#OSUN2026: Sources Name Possible Candidate, Party to Win Guber Election

The Osun governorship election has attracted considerable attention, with the incumbent seeking to retain power while the opposition APC is pushing to reclaim the state.

As counting and collation continue, attention is now focused on the results from key polling units and local government areas, which could determine whether the early indications favour the APC or the incumbent.

Until INEC makes the official declaration, all emerging assessments remain projections based on observations at polling units and should not be regarded as the final result.

Fresh observations from the ongoing Osun State governorship election suggest that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may be heading for victory, as voters turned out in large numbers across various polling units on Saturday.

Sources monitoring the election in different parts of the state said the body language and confidence displayed by APC supporters and agents appeared to give the party an advantage as voting progressed.

According to the observers, the large turnout of residents across several polling locations has further heightened expectations about the possible outcome of the keenly contested election.

One of the sources monitoring developments in Osun said the APC camp appeared increasingly confident, with its supporters expressing optimism that their candidate could pull off a major upset against the incumbent.

“The APC people are looking very confident across the areas we have monitored. Their agents are active and the supporters appear encouraged by what they are seeing at the polling units,” a source said.

The source, however, stressed that the observations should not be interpreted as a final result, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) remains the only body authorised to declare the official outcome.

Another observer noted that the election appeared to have generated strong participation among residents, with voters coming out to exercise their franchise despite the intense political competition surrounding the poll.

The observers also pointed to what they described as a noticeable difference in the reactions of the two major camps, saying APC supporters appeared upbeat while the camp of the incumbent had raised more complaints about aspects of the election.

“The major complaints we are hearing are coming largely from the incumbent’s camp. The APC side appears more confident at the moment,” another source monitoring the election said.

The development has consequently sparked fresh speculation that the APC candidate could emerge victorious when the ballots are eventually counted and the results announced.

However, with voting and collation processes still subject to official procedures, observers cautioned against declaring any candidate winner prematurely.
