BREAKING: Tinubu Makes Fresh Appointment, Names Ex-Super Eagles Star Deputy Director for Sports

Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has been appointed Deputy Director for Sports Sector Mobilisation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign team ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yobo’s appointment places the former Nigerian international in the party’s mobilisation structure, with a focus on engaging stakeholders within the sports sector.

Also named to the campaign team is businessman Ayiri Emami, who will serve as Director of Special Duties.

The appointments form part of the APC’s efforts to organise its campaign structure ahead of the next general elections, as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 presidential and other electoral contests.

Yobo, who captained Nigeria’s senior national team and enjoyed a distinguished football career, brings his experience and public profile to the campaign team.

His inclusion also highlights the potential role of prominent sports personalities in political mobilisation, particularly in engaging young people, football enthusiasts and other groups within Nigeria’s sporting community.

Emami’s appointment as Director of Special Duties adds a business figure to the campaign structure.

The development comes as President Bola Tinubu and the APC prepare for the political contest ahead, with party mobilisation and stakeholder engagement expected to feature prominently in the build-up to the 2027 elections.
