BREAKING: 13 Top Lawmakers Defect to New Parties (FULL LIST) -Details Below

The House of Representatives on Tuesday resumed plenary after a four-week recess amid a fresh wave of defections, with 13 lawmakers announcing their switch to different political parties.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read the notices of defection during Tuesday’s sitting.

Among those who defected was Gaza Jonathan from Nasarawa State, who moved from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the Labour Party (LP).

Alex Egbona of Cross River State dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Esosa Iyawe of Edo State left the APC for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Also, Sani Lawal of Katsina State resigned from the APC for an undisclosed party, while fellow Katsina lawmaker, Shehu Dalhatu, defected from the APC to the PDP.

In Oyo State, six lawmakers left the PDP for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). They include Adebayo Adepoju, Adedeji Olajide, Ojo Akinola, Oyedeji Oyeshina, Oyekunle Folajimi, and Abass Adigun.

Similarly, Etanabene Benedict of Delta State moved from the Labour Party to the PDP, while Auwalu Gwalabe of Bauchi State defected from the PDP to the APM.

The lawmakers blamed their defections on lingering internal crises, leadership tussles, and factional disputes within their former parties.

According to them, the instability within the parties had hampered their ability to effectively serve and represent their constituents.
