Twenty governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly agreed to replace Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), with Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, emerging as his successor.

The development reportedly occurred shortly after the submission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 election.

According to reports, the decision was reached during an extraordinary meeting involving about 20 progressive governors, including the governors of Ogun, Bayelsa and Enugu states, held in Abuja.

Sources familiar with the meeting disclosed that the governors gathered at the Ogun State Government Lodge, where concerns were allegedly raised over Uzodimma’s leadership of the forum.

A top source in Abuja claimed the governors resolved to remove the Imo governor after extensive deliberations and subsequently settled for Mbah as the new chairman of the PGF.

“They made certain allegations against him. Over 20 governors attended the meeting and agreed on Governor Peter Mbah as the new PGF Chairman,” the source reportedly said.

However, the Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum reportedly denied that such a meeting took place.
