The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released its latest figures on registered voters ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Lagos State recording the highest number nationwide.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed the figures at a stakeholders’ meeting and press conference in Abuja, saying the national voters’ register now contains 103,428,715 voters following the completion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and biometric clean-up.

Here are the top 10 states with the highest number of registered voters:

 

1. Lagos State

Lagos tops the list with 7,488,633 registered voters.

2. Kano State

Kano ranks second with 6,570,276 registered voters.

3. Kaduna State

Kaduna ranks third with 4,662,640 registered voters.

4. Katsina State

Katsina ranks fourth with 3,876,051 registered voters.

5. Rivers State

Rivers State is fifth with 3,736,434 registered voters.

6. Oyo State

Oyo ranks sixth with 3,588,111 registered voters.

7. Delta State

Delta ranks seventh with 3,525,988 registered voters.

8. Benue State

Benue ranks eighth with 3,057,225 registered voters.

9. Ogun State

Ogun is ninth with 3,037,981 registered voters.

10. Bauchi State

Bauchi completes the top 10 with 3,012,547 registered voters.

INEC said the three-phase CVR exercise recorded 10,772,421 new registrations before the final biometric verification and clean-up of the register.

The commission also announced that the voters’ register would be displayed nationwide for public scrutiny from October 9 to 15, 2026.

Collection of newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) is also scheduled to begin nationwide on October 9.
