Senators Who Lost 2027 Tickets Lead Mass Defection from APC

According to a recent report by BusinessDay, several ranking members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives may not return to the 11th National Assembly after losing party return tickets ahead of the 2027 elections.

The lawmakers highlighted include:

Julius Ihonvbere — House Majority Leader from Edo State.
Ibrahim Isiaka — Deputy Chief Whip.
Nicholas Mutu — In the House since 1999.
Miriam Onuoha — Prominent female APC lawmaker.
Eseosa Iyawe — Former opposition member turned APC lawmaker.
Sa’idu Yusuf Miga — Long-serving northern legislator.
Donatus Matthew — Known for rising from motorcycle rider to federal lawmaker.
Austin Achado
Jeremiah Umaru and Abdul-Mumin Muhammad were also mentioned among those affected by party primaries.

The report said internal APC primaries and state-level political structures played major roles in pushing out many incumbents, with more than 50 House members reportedly affected nationwide.
