Atiku is Not Electable” — Amaechi Ridicules Ex-VP in Fresh Battle

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation, has expressed his belief that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar lacks the necessary qualities to secure victory in a general election in Nigeria.
In an interview with Trust TV, Amaechi emphasized his commitment to remain in the presidential race and indicated that he will not withdraw in favor of any candidate ahead of the party primaries.
During the discussion, Amaechi highlighted Atiku’s political history, noting his numerous attempts to run for president over the years.
While Atiku has successfully obtained party nominations, he has consistently fallen short in the general elections. Amaechi remarked that success at the party level does not necessarily translate to winning a general election, especially if a candidate fails to garner broad support from the electorate.
He further pointed out that the core challenge in presidential politics lies in appealing to the wider population rather than merely succeeding in internal party contests.
Amaechi also referenced Atiku’s prolonged pursuit of the presidency, underscoring that despite his efforts since the early 1990s, he has yet to achieve victory at the national level.
He said: “He has been running since 1992. Every time he has won The Primaries, he losses the Election. It’s about Electability & Atiku is not electable.
“I listen when they say former Vice President Atiku said he has never failed the primaries before. I hope this will be the first time he fails the primaries. That is not the issue, the issue is that every time he has passed the primaries, he has not won the election.”
