New Twist as Jonathan's Meeting With ADC Aspirant Sparks Speculation

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, the presidential aspirant from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), held a meeting with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in Abuja on Friday.

The discussion focused on the current state of the nation and the prospects for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

This meeting took place behind closed doors and marked a reunion between two individuals who share a long history of collaboration in public service.

During Jonathan’s time as Vice President, Hayatu-Deen was actively involved as a member of the National Council on Privatization and chaired the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

He also served on the Presidential Advisory Committee during Jonathan’s tenure as both Acting President and President. The respect and regard they have for each other have persisted since their years of working together.

According to a statement from the Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Media Office, the presidential aspirant visited the former President to formally inform him of his decision to seek the 2027 presidency on the platform of the ADC.

During the visit, Hayatu-Deen saluted ex-President Jonathan’s statesmanly role across the African continent, where the former President continues to be a prominent voice for the deepening of democracy and the strengthening of electoral integrity. Jonathan warmly received him and extended his best wishes for his interest in the presidential race.

The statement added that Hayatu-Deen, with his 40-year experience in both public and private sector service, if elected, would bring his experience to bear on the presidency by creating jobs and turning around organisations, ending insecurity, reducing the cost of living, and creating new employment opportunities for all Nigerians.
