Another Atiku Loyalist Dumps ADC in Mass Defection

Former federal lawmaker, Senator Ishaku Abbo, has announced his departure from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and plans to reveal his new political party later this week.

This decision, which he made public on Monday morning, is attributed to the ongoing crisis within the ADC’s chapter in Adamawa State.

Abbo’s exit follows closely behind a significant development within the party, as the faction aligned with Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, commonly known as Binani, withdrew from the ADC just 48 hours prior to his announcement.

Recent reports indicate that internal conflicts have intensified within the ADC in Adamawa State, leading to a mass resignation from the party by members loyal to Binani. This decision was formalized in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders’ meeting held at the residence of Hon. Mijiyewa Umaru Kugama.

The group, drawn from the three senatorial zones of the state, accused the party’s leadership of undermining democratic principles.

“The actions of the party leadership have destroyed internal democracy, undermined the rule of law, and rendered the party structure in Adamawa State illegitimate and unacceptable,” the communiqué stated.

At the centre of the crisis are the recently concluded party congresses, which the stakeholders described as flawed.
