My father had 13 wives, 53 children as CCC founder, polygamous is allowed – Tosho Oshoffa

The 20th child of the late founder of the Celestial Church of Christ, Worldwide, Olatosho Oshoffa, commonly known as Tosho, serves as the shepherd at CCC International Headquarters in Ketu, Lagos. In a conversation with IMOLEAYO OYEDEYI, he addresses various contentious issues surrounding the church and its founder, the late Bilewu Oshoffa.

What is your relationship to the CCC founder, the late SBJ Oshoffa?
My name is Olatosho Mathew Oshoffa. By God’s grace, I am the 10th son and 20th child of the late CCC founder. Thus, I proudly identify as Oshoffa’s son.

There has been ongoing controversy regarding the CCC founder, particularly concerning his purported number of wives and children. Could you provide clarity on this matter?
This is no longer a private matter. My father passed away on September 10, 1985, leaving behind 13 wives and 53 children. Despite claims of a higher number, we, the children, know our true count. We maintain unity and love within the family, regardless of our numbers. While there are 53 of us, we stand together in solidarity and harmony.

How do all 53 children of the CCC founder manage to maintain such strong connections and unity?
Our father instilled in us a sense of unity by encouraging us to identify as his children, rather than distinguishing ourselves by our mothers. This familial bond remains unbroken, even after his passing. Today, I still regard the wives younger than my mother as maternal figures due to the love Oshoffa fostered among us. We remain united as Oshoffa’s children.

Considering the biblical injunction that a Bishop should be the husband of one wife, do you think critics of polygamous religious leaders have a valid point?
In addressing this, it’s important to recognize that Paul’s counsel regarding marriage was advisory. Throughout biblical history, many prophets had multiple wives. Furthermore, if the number of wives were grounds for disqualification, my father, who had three wives before his calling, would have been ineligible to found CCC. Yet, the longevity and strength of the church testify to its divine origin. Thus, condemning polygamous leaders lacks merit, especially when compared to those with one wife who engage in extramarital affairs. Currently, there is no CCC doctrine mandating monogamy among clergy.

Does this mean polygamy is permitted among CCC shepherds?
Presently, polygamy is not prohibited among CCC clergy. However, future directives may alter this stance. As of now, there are no CCC regulations restricting polygamous marriages among pastors or shepherds.

Several pastors claim to be the authentic spiritual heads of the Celestial Church. What is your perspective on this?
Similar to the early apostolic struggles and historical disputes within other religious institutions, CCC faced challenges in succession after its founder’s passing. This is a natural aspect of organizational evolution, and over time, a unified leadership will emerge, as witnessed in other longstanding religious traditions.

Tinubu: ‘Some people will go to jail with false prophecies’

Published

on

Tinubu appeals to governors’ for unity of purpose to ‘make Nigeria greater’

In light of the recent controversial predictions made by certain Nigerian pastors and prophets, who have purportedly issued unfounded proclamations that malign the government, Oke Johnson, a clergy member originally from Nigeria residing in Luxembourg, has urged his fellow pastors to refrain from disseminating false forecasts about governmental matters and policies.

Instead, he emphasized the importance of praying for the nation and its leaders, advocating for guidance that aligns with the best interests of all citizens.

The pastor in residence at ‘Seek Thy Kingdom Church in Luxembourg expressed the view that many prophetic declarations made by Nigerian pastors and prophets can be understood as reflections of current circumstances and insights from political analysis.

It appears that some of these declarations may utilize statistical trends from sporting events to inform their predictions. This perspective invites a deeper examination of the methods used in prophetic practices and encourages a dialogue about the value of combining spiritual insights with analytical approaches.

His words:

“Too many prophecies, some are even waiting for others to predict before using synonyms to predict them but they are saying both things. It is only in Nigeria that you see PDP pastors predicting more doom for the APC government. APC pastor will be predicting what the Nigerians will like to hear. All these things are false and misleading. We have turned prophecies into betting. It is also in this country that a so-called pastor predicted football matches using the name of God but he failed at the end of the day. How could you have done that as a pastor? Those prophets criticizing Tinubu’s government have not been reached out to. Only a few pastors in the country have synergy with God and those people are not speaking openly, they call the concerned person to reveal things. Others are making advertisements for patronage and if care is not taken some prophecies and pastors will be jailed at the end of 2025 for false prophecies.

“Politicians have corrupted pastors and prophets in the country because if a Senator or Governor sent you bags of money and the road leading to your church is in bad condition and people in your community are complaining and suffering from infrastructures, would you tell the Senator or governor to return the money and development the community? They won’t because they tag such opportunity as an ‘undiluted blessing’ whereas you are eating from other’s people benefit, yet, you call yourself a man of God. Are you sure you are?

“Prophecies in Nigeria are betting odds for so-called prophets. Some pastors have betting apps on their phones that is why they predict football in the name of God, beware!”

“Tinubu’s emergence as President of Nigeria is not a prediction of any of these pastors, none of them wanted him as President, they all played religious roles during the campaign and beyond. The pastors and prophets who knew Tinubu would become the president of this country are still alive and because they don’t need traffic on their YouTube and Facebook pages you don’t see them making Sportybet predictions. The pastors predicting doom and toughness in the country have their own children schooling in other countries. Where were they getting the money to fund their children’s school fees abroad?

'The cabals around him' - CCC cleric sends strong message to Nigerians over President Tinubu

In the context of ongoing economic challenges in Nigeria, Venerable Superior Evangelist James Aso, the leader of the Celestial Church of Christ, Liberation Parish in Lagos, has called upon Nigerians to offer their prayers in support of the current administration under President Bola Tinubu.

He emphasised the importance of unity in the face of potential influences from various vested interests.

During a special service held on the final Sunday of the year, Aso led the congregation in prayers aimed at restoring peace and fostering harmony throughout Nigeria, as well as for the well-being of the president, despite the existing economic difficulties.

He said: “We should all pray for the good health of our president even though things are hard, he is our president and God should give him good health to lead us away from this hardship and fulfill his dreams for the country. And God should touch the hearts of cabals around him who do not want this country’s progress. 2025 shall be the year of our blessings as a country and individuals in Jesus’ name.”

The congregation proceeded to pray for an abundance of blessings that would transform hardship into a surplus of food, ultimately eradicating hunger in the land.

ICYMI: Reasons Jehovah witness, MFM, others forbid Christmas celebration, full details emerge

Published

on

Despite Christmas being one of the most widely celebrated holidays worldwide, not all Christian denominations observe it.

Some churches decision to refrain from celebrating Christmas is based on historical concerns or a desire to adhere strictly to biblical teachings.

A gathering like  Jehovah’s Witnesses have historically avoided celebrating Christmas since 1928.

They argue that the holiday’s origins are rooted in pagan practices, particularly the Roman festival of Saturnalia, and that the Bible does not command Christians to observe Christ’s birth.

The group believes that if Christmas were significant to Christianity, it would be explicitly mentioned in scripture.

In the case of Seventh-Day Adventists, they don’t  observe Christmas, partly because it does not align with their interpretation of the Bible.

Seventh-Day Adventists maintain that Jesus was not born in December and that there is no biblical mandate to celebrate His birth.

They also view Christmas as a commercialized event with pagan origins. Some members may privately celebrate the holiday, but the church does not officially endorse it.

In Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, announced in 2013 that the church does not celebrate Christmas.

The church’s stance is based on the belief that Christmas has idolatrous origins tied to pagan sun god worship.

Deeper Life prefers to commemorate Christ’s birth during an event called Freedom Day in October, arguing that traditional Christmas customs are not grounded in the Bible.

God’s Kingdom Society (GKS)

The GKS, founded in 1934 by St. Gideon Meriodere Urhobo, also rejects the December celebration of Christmas, citing its pagan roots.

The church observes Christ’s birth in October, in line with their interpretation of historical and biblical facts.

They argue that Christmas is a continuation of the Roman Saturnalia festival.

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM)

Founded by Dr. Daniel Olukoya, MFM does not celebrate Christmas, seeing it as a holiday with pagan origins that is not supported by Christian teachings.

Instead, the church focuses on spiritual activities such as the annual “Power Must Change Hands” ceremony to usher in the New Year.

These churches choose to forgo Christmas in favor of what they consider more biblically consistent practices.

“The spirit of God says the following States in Nigeria must be careful because of unexpected security challenges; Zamfara, Yobe, Nasarawa, Imo, Enugu, Sokoto, Anambra, Niger, Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Kaduna. The states will witness cases of banditry, kidnappings, killings and Fulani Herdsmen troubles.

“I foresee that the bad economy will make the people to cry and there will be no improvement in 2025. The government of Tinubu must follow the candid advice as I have already mentioned the solutions to the economic problems. The economy will be terrifying. So many things will be going wrong, the process of finding solutions to the economy will adversely affect the masses, businessmen, private investments. Palliatives is not the answer to economic problems as I foresee that it will create more hardship and lead to massive corruption.

“These states: Zamfara, Yobe and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja must be careful and watchful so as not to experience the criminal activities of suicide bombers in Nigeria. Nigerians must be careful and prayerful so that the country will not begin to have political tension in the build up towards 2027 polls.

“The spirit of God says the Office of the President must be well protected even as he must watch his health very seriously in the year 2025. The spirit of God says many people will not appreciate his efforts. He will be bombarded with lots of negative remarks and criticisms. I foresee there will be a Judas among the President’ disciples. I foresee that one of his trusted person in the inner caucus will disappoint him. There will be changes in the President’ Security Details.

“ASO ROCK VILLA: The spirit of God says let the people inhabiting the Villa be prayerful and careful in order not to cause any disorder in the observance of official Protocols. Let them also pray for God’s protection over workers in Villa and against sporadic shooting in the seat of government. I foresee a new directive that will lead to changes in the official protocols in the Villa. The spirit of God says the Cabals will rise and promote gang ups in the Villa. The President must pray and be watchful against the unlawful developments as spearheaded by the members of the Cabal.

“NNAMDI KANU OF IPOB: The spirit of God says Nnamdi kanu will be released by negotiation and not by legalistic means.

“POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS AND CONVOYS: Let us pray against attacks on the convoy of any governor and most especially stoning of Ministers and Senators convoys. Let us pray so that we will not record the death of any Commissioner or political appointees in any of the states in Nigeria.

“STATE GOVERNORS: I foresee that some governors in Nigeria will remove the Secretary to the State Government and reshuffle their Cabinets. I foresee the removal of Speakers of two States House of Assembly.

“PRAYER FOR SITTING GOVERNORS: Let us pray against the death of a sitting governor in Nigeria or any sitting governor that will undergo surgery.

“Let us pray against the outbreak of diseases. I foresee the re -emergence of Ebola Virus and Polio in some African nations. Covid, Chicken pox, Monkey pox {MPOX} and other deadly diseases will resurface in the Continent. I foresee that new vaccine for the treatment of the diseases will be discovered. The spirit of God says there will be a new vaccine to be used to fight Cancer. I foresee that another Covid outbreak, Ebola, Lazza Fever and Cholera will resurface in 2025. I foresee that Malaria parasites the carriers of Malaria fever will be on the increase in Africa.

“I foresee that a President will survive killing by poisoning attempt. The spirit of God says some Federal Bureau of Investigation {FBI} and Criminal Investigation Agency {CIA} Agents will be killed.

“SIT-TIGHT LEADERS: I foresee that some “Sit Tight” Presidents and political leaders will end their era of leadership in 2025, 2026, 2027 as revealed by the spirit of God.

“I foresee change in leadership at the African Development Bank. The spirit of God says Africa will be having political problems and apart from this, Africa leaders will not be able to do what is necessary to make Africa great. Thus, there will be uprising in some parts of Africa in bold moves to remove some sit tight and unproductive African political leaders. Africa will face series of crises even as the people will be swimming in abject poverty because of leadership problems and incompetency.

“I foresee that the incoming American president will take a lot of wrong policies and global decisions that will not be admirable but he will use veto power to push it through. This will create a lot of troubles so says the Lord. The government of Donald Trump will support favourism and nepotism. A lot of world leaders will not admire his approach to international policies as he will display signs of rascality in his use of words will be mismanaged.

“Elon Musk: The spirit of the Lord says Elon Musk the Billionaire will be duped. I foresee that certain policies of the Donald Trump government will create troubles between him and President after resuming office. He must be prayerful not to be bereaved.

“United Kingdom: I foresee a lot of political tension, as the opposition makes moves to rescue power from the ruling party. King Charles should pray against any emergency and not to lose anybody in Buckingham Palace, either the guards or anybody at all.

“Exchange rate: I foresee the Nigeria currency the naira will be further devalued and this will shock many Nigerians. The spirit of God says, in the coming year, the exchange rate of the Naira to the American Dollar will be #1,950.00 to one Dollar. I foresee that the five naira {#5} and ten naira {#10} notes will be phased out. In Nigeria, I foresee that #5, #10, #20 notes will become worthless pieces of paper as traders and service providers no longer denominate goods and services in these Naira denominations due to the inflationary trends. Phasing out the notes will amount to creating more hardships. However, the government will be working on an alternative way out.

“Nigerian Army: The Lord says that the Nigerian Army should pray against protests and mutiny, especially from the personnel at the war front. The Chief of Army Staff needs to restrategize so that his efforts will be appreciated. Let him be vigilant so that he can achieve his objectives. I foresee that the Army will demote some officers. Let us pray against army personnel turning against each other and be killing themselves in frustration. There will be total shake up of the Army hierarchy as I foresee that the Army will be taken to court.”

VIDEO: ‘Gay, lesbian are not demonic’ – Pastor Abel Damina reveals

Pastor Abel Damina, founder of Kingdom Life Network (KLN), shared his perspective on LGBTQ issues in a revealing conversation on the MIC ON Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.

He attributed them primarily to identity crises rather than inherent evil or demonic forces.

“LGBTQ people are not bad people. They’re just people who need to realise their true identity. When a person is suffering from an identity crisis, he’s not a bad person; he just needs guidance,” Pastor Damina stated.

He emphasised the importance of understanding one’s origin, saying, “For a man to know who he is, he’s got to know where he came from. It is the revelation of Jesus that unveils the identity of a man.”

When asked about his approach to helping LGBTQ individuals, Pastor Damina highlighted the need for spiritual teaching rather than condemnation.

“These people need teaching. It’s not demonic,” he clarified, adding that unresolved identity crises could open the door for demonic influences over time.

“If nothing is done, Satan will come in. It begins as an identity crisis and eventually becomes demonic,” he said.

Pastor Damina gives clarity on deliverance

On the controversial topic of deliverance, he explained the biblical interpretation of the term.

“Deliverance, or ‘aphesis’ in Greek, means forgiveness of sins. It’s different from casting out devils,” he said.

Pastor Damina underscored that born-again Christians could possess authority over demons but clarified, “A man who has Jesus in him has no demon to cast out.”

Addressing whether one can be a born-again Christian while identifying as LGBTQ, Pastor Damina acknowledged the complexity.

“Yes, you can be born again and still struggle with an identity crisis,” he stated, urging for patience and understanding in addressing such issues.

The interview provided a nuanced view of LGBTQ matters from a spiritual perspective, urging compassion and education over judgment or sensationalism.
