‘I married a stranger I met on TikTok for fun – then we fell in love’
A woman who married a stranger she met on TikTok for “life experience” fell in love with her husband and “couldn’t be happier”.
Danielle Gross, 26, jumped at the chance to tie the knot with Gunnar Michels, 26, when she saw his video asking a stranger to marry him.
The content creator had always felt she would get married in a “silly way” and, after chatting for less than a week, Gunnar surprised Danielle by coming to her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, to propose.
Two weeks later, the strangers took a road trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, US, to wed on Valentine’s Day 2021.
Gunnar and Danielle admit they had planned to divorce a week later but as they got to know each other their relationship blossomed.
In March 2021 they started travelling across America in a converted ambulance and have now settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, and are looking to buy a home together.
Danielle said: “I always had the idea in my head that any way I got married it would be something silly – like Vegas.
“So when I saw Gunnar’s video I thought: ‘This is the silly way.’ I had to jump on the opportunity.
“Our original plan was to get divorced a week after the wedding. But then we were chatting and thought let’s keep talking as friends and then it became something more.
“Gunnar and I never would have gone up to each other in a bar. It opened our eyes to other people.”
Gunnar, a video creator, said: “Looking back it seems like a story. It doesn’t feel real. But it definitely happened.”
Gunnar had the idea to find a stranger to marry him during the pandemic in January 2021.
He said: “In the pandemic I was looking for a way to make content and meet people. I came up with this idea of getting married to a stranger. It was pretty wild.“I wasn’t seriously looking for a life partner – more to have a life experience. So many people wanted to do it. I got them to make a video for me on why they would be a good fit for me.”
Danielle was among the thousands of strangers competing for Gunnar’s marriage: “My video went viral. I had an army of people getting him to pick me,” she said.
The pair started chatting and FaceTimed twice before Gunnar surprised Danielle by driving down to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, get down on one knee. He met Danielle’s family that night. They were sceptical of the marriage – but are now supportive of the pair.
The couple drove to Las Vegas two weeks later and tied the knot on Valentine’s Day, but were not expecting the marriage to last.
Gunnar said: “It’s blossomed into a really healthy relationship as we’ve got to know each other. There was no pressure on it to work out.”
The pair dived in head first and have spent the last two year travelling around 50 states of America in a converted ambulance, where there was “nothing to do but talk”.
The happy couple say their personalities “complement each other”.
Danielle said “We have the same core values. Even though our personalities are different – deep inside we are the same.”
The pair are taking a break from travelling and moved into a home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, in February 2023 but are both still lovers of spontaneity.
Danielle said: “We could buy a house tomorrow. We could leave for Europe tomorrow.
“Our families have both been really happy for us. They all get along. My friends can’t believe we’re still together.

Rapper Kanye West sued by former Security Guard who claims he wasn’t paid for his services
A former security guard, Jonathan Monroe, has initiated legal proceedings against Kanye West, asserting that the rapper did not compensate him for his services.
Court documents indicate that West engaged Monroe in August 2021 to provide security at his residence in Malibu, California, with a stipulated hourly wage of $30.
Monroe contends that he worked considerable hours, between 36 and 50 hours weekly, yet did not receive any payment.
He further claims that after expressing concerns regarding his unpaid wages, West terminated his employment in October 2021.
The lawsuit seeks restitution for:
– Unpaid wages
– Interest on the owed amount
– Punitive damages
This legal matter comes to light following West’s recent sale of his Malibu property for $21 million, a significant reduction from its original listing price of $53 million.

More than 100 people are to sue rap musician Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs for sexual assault, rape and sexual exploitation, a US lawyer has said.
Texas-based lawyer Tony Buzbee said that some of the alleged victims include minors who were abused when they were as young as nine years old.
“This is an important matter that we intend to aggressively pursue,” Mr Buzbee told reporters.
Erica Wolff, a lawyer representing Mr Combs, said the rapper “emphatically and categorically” denies the allegations, saying they are “false and defamatory”.
Ms Wolff said in a statement to the BBC that Mr Combs “looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation”.
The legal action is the latest against Mr Combs.
Mr Combs was arrested last week and is facing criminal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. He is currently in federal custody after he was denied bail, which he is appealing.
He has denied all allegations of criminal wrongdoing.
According to Mr Buzbee, who is licensed to practice law in Texas and New York, the total number of alleged victims he is representing is 120, with half of them being men and the other half women who hail from more than 25 states across the US.
He added that 25 of the alleged victims he is representing were minors. This marks the first time that Mr Combs has been accused of sexually abusing children.
The allegations span between 1991 to as recently as this year with the incidents taking place in Los Angeles, New York and Miami, Mr Buzbee said. He added most of the incidents occurred after 2015.
Most of the plaintiffs, he said, allege they were date raped after parties hosted by Mr Combs that were held at well-known venues, as well as private residences and hotels.
Mr Buzbee said the parties were either to mark an album release, or were New Year’s Eve parties and US Independence Day parties. Others occurred at what he said were auditions.
“Many times, especially young people wanting to break into the industry, were coerced into this type of conduct in the promise of being made a star or the promise of having Sean Combs listen to their tape,” Mr Buzbee said.
One man, who was aged nine at the time, alleges he was sexually abused by Mr Combs and his associates at a recording studio in New York while trying to land a record deal, according to his lawyer.
“Had he not been in power, I feel I could’ve been something great. I quit the industry because of what Sean Combs did to me,” he said in a statement via his lawyer.
Another man, who was also a minor at the time, alleged he was told by Mr Combs he would be made a “star”, but he first needed to visit the rapper alone without his parents.
Once in a private area, his lawyer claimed Mr Combs then requested the boy perform oral sex on him.
Mr Buzbee also raised the case of a then-15-year-old girl who alleges she was flown to New York for a party hosted by Mr Combs and was subsequently raped by him and others.
The lawyer claimed there was a clear modus operandi with alleged victims typically being offered “laced” drinks before being sexually assaulted.
“The biggest secret in the entertainment industry has finally been revealed to the world,” Mr Buzbee said. “The wall of silence has now been broken.”
He added that this is not a class action lawsuit and that there will be individual cases filed for each alleged victim.
Andrew Van Arsdale, an attorney at the AVA law group which is working with Mr Buzbee, said his firm had received more than 3,000 phone calls from people alleging abuse by the music mogul.
In addition to the 120 alleged victims, he said his firm were working to vet another 100 cases.
