Petrol Prices Drop as Filling Stations Cut Pump Rates

According to a report by DAILY POST on Sunday 20 September 2026, some filling stations across Nigeria have started reducing their petrol pump prices following a decline in crude oil prices and increasing competition in the downstream petroleum sector.

A market survey by DAILY POST showed that operators including AA Rano and Mobil have adjusted their petrol prices downward in Abuja and surrounding areas.

AA Rano reduced its pump price from ₦1,450 to ₦1,420 per litre, representing a reduction of ₦30.

Mobil also lowered its petrol price from ₦1,435 to ₦1,410 per litre, cutting the price by ₦25 per litre.

The latest reductions come as international crude oil prices recorded a decline; At the time of filing the report, Brent crude was trading at around $103 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate stood at approximately $100.30 per barrel.

The development follows increasing pressure on fuel marketers to reduce pump prices in response to the movement in crude oil prices.

Petrol prices had recently remained between ₦1,395 and ₦1,450 per litre at different filling stations, depending on location and operator.

With some marketers now reducing their prices, consumers may see further adjustments if the decline in crude oil prices continues and competition among retailers increases.
