Tinubu Announces Six Key Appointments; Full List Emerge

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially restructured the governing council of the Nigeria Police Academy located in Wudil, Kano State, appointing a diverse group of 16 members to oversee its operations.

This council plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective management and administration of the police academy, which is vital for the training and development of Nigeria’s police officers.

In an effort to foster representation from across the country, Tinubu has also appointed six individuals, each selected to represent one of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. T

Taking the helm of the governing council is Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, the Minister of Police Affairs, who will serve as the chairman. His leadership is expected to guide the council in addressing various issues related to police training and enhancing the overall quality of policing in Nigeria.

The council’s composition includes several key figures: the chairman of the Police Service Commission, the Inspector-General of Police, and representatives from the Federal Ministry of Education, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Federal Ministry of Justice.

These appointments ensure that the council benefits from a wealth of experience and expertise across different sectors relevant to the functioning of the Nigeria Police Academy.

This announcement was made public by Bayo Onanuga, who serves as the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy. The statement was issued on Monday, April 20, 2026, highlighting the government’s proactive approach to strengthening the foundations of Nigeria’s law enforcement training programs.

Babagana Zannah Adam (DCP Rtd.) – North East

Emmanuel Torkuma Manger – North Central

Maigari Abati Dikko (DIG Rtd.) – North West

Dubem A. Obaze (KSM) – South East

Ajibogere Toyin – South West

Udom Udo Ekpoudom (DIG Rtd.) – South South

According to the statement, the Commandant of the Academy, the Provost, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of training will serve as ex officio members.

Onanguag added that the registrar of the Academy will serve as the council’s secretary.
