After 24 Years, Ex-FCT Minister Dumps PDP

Jumoke Akinjide, who previously served as the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has officially resigned from her position as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Her decision to step away from the party was made public on Monday through a formal letter that she submitted to the chairman of the PDP in her ward, located in the Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In her communication, she likely outlined her reasons for this significant political move, reflecting her evolving views and future aspirations in the political landscape.

In the letter, she said her decision followed personal reflection and would take effect immediately.

“I hereby formally give you notice of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” she stated.

“This decision was not taken lightly, given the fact that I have been a member of the party since 2001.”

Akinjide comes from a prominent political family. Her father, late Richard Akinjide, served as Minister of Justice during the administration of former President Shehu Shagari in the Second Republic.
