Nigerian music legend 2Face Idibia recently discussed the complex emotions surrounding his iconic track “African Queen.”

In an appearance on an Entertainment & Lifestyle show, he characterized the song as a dual-edged sword, serving as both a significant blessing and a considerable burden throughout his extensive career in the music industry.

He said, “That song has been a huge blessing and e don turn to problem join for me, you know, but like I said earlier, I’m grateful for everything.

The 2004 classic catapulted him to international fame, earning him numerous awards and cementing his status as one of Africa’s biggest music exports.

However, the song’s success has also been marred by controversy, with 2Baba’s former bandmate Blackface accusing him of stealing the song.

2Baba has consistently denied the claim, stating that the song was a collaborative effort during their band days.

Despite the challenges, 2Face said he remains grateful for the song’s impact on his career.

He highlights that while “African Queen” remains his most iconic song, he has created many other notable works that fans deeply connect with.

“There are so many other songs I have that are brilliant, and many people resonate with them too,” he said.

The song’s legacy was recently reaffirmed when Billboard named it the “Greatest Afrobeats Song of All Time”.
