Saraki Plots Two Key Positions Ahead 2027 Election

In Kwara, the formerly powerful Saraki political organization has faced numerous challenges, coming out battered but still resilient.
With a calm resolve, he is mobilising his followers and methodically strengthening his authority, setting the stage for what may be a vital moment in the intensely competitive electoral landscape of 2027. Click the link to continue reading.
The race for the 2027 elections in Nigeria is a big deal for many politicians, whether directly or indirectly through their actions or inactions. Since Dr. Bukola Saraki left public office, the political landscape has changed significantly. The former Senate President and ex-Governor of Kwara is also seeking to regain relevance in politics and plans to make a bold move in the upcoming 2027 elections. To turn his vision and plans into reality, he needs to realign his strategies.
According to a reliable source, about two of Saraki’s close aides have disclosed his plans on how he intends to make a strong comeback in 2027. One of the aides stated, “Dr. Bukola knows that the current administration in the center will not be easily dislodged. Instead of positioning himself as an opposition figure, he wants to align with them to fulfill his next political ambition.”
Additionally, it’s important to note that Saraki was uncertain about the success of the coalition against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even before some major members of the PDP officially defected to the ADC. It was rumored that Saraki intended to follow Governor Wike’s strategy of remaining in the PDP while collaborating with the ruling government to stay influential at the center.
Many governors from both the APC and PDP have pledged their loyalty to the president in hopes of securing their political futures. This situation implies that opposition governors are unlikely to fund a new coalition, which has made Saraki reluctant to publicly align with any such movement. He remarked a few months ago, “Given the current situation, the possibility of me leaving the party is zero. No current APC governors are ready to defect to the PDP or SDP; in fact, I can name about five PDP governors who are leaning towards the APC. The remaining PDP governors are not willing to support the party financially.”
Currently, there are reports that the former Senate President is working toward regaining a Senate seat in 2027 and aims to install a governor in his home state of Kwara. These two objectives are at the top of his agenda.
So how does he plan to achieve this? It appears he is not looking to confront the APC government directly. One of his media aides stated, “For 2027, he wants to contest for a political office because his constituents have been urging him to run. He feels compelled to run, as people gather at his home daily seeking assistance. For almost a decade, without holding any political office, he has been using his personal funds to support his initiatives, helping the people of his state and many Nigerians in need.” The aide added, “He would not mind working with or aligning himself with the President to realize his ambitions for a second term if it can also help him achieve his goals.”
Several people have suggested that he was interested in a return to the APC, but that has been flatly denied. Insiders say Saraki is not keen on making a spectacle. Instead, he may be charting a Wike-style course: remaining in the PDP, hedging his bets, and leveraging quiet influence rather than seeking visible rebellion. This approach is shrewd in a fragmented opposition where funding is scarce and loyalty is transactional.
Back in Kwara, the Saraki political machine is bruised but not broken. Party leaders insist that the dynasty remains intact, and Saraki appears committed to restoring its strength. He’s not pursuing presidential ambitions—not at least for now. Instead, he is quietly consolidating influence that could prove decisive in the tightly contested 2027 elections.
However, it has been repeatedly stated that the immediate concerns for Dr. Bukola Saraki are to unite the party members and to find solutions for better management of the party.
The Saraki Support Group (SSG) has been diligently working behind the scenes to ensure that the vision for 2027 is achievable. This group is one of Dr. Bukola Saraki’s major political organizations in Kwara State, and its past contributions have been significant.
Reports suggest that the group is prepared to further solidify Dr. Saraki’s relevance in Kwara politics. In Kwara State, particularly in Ilorin, many of the former governor’s loyal supporters remain hopeful, believing that 2027 will bring better prospects.
Currently, there is little love lost between the state’s governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Dr. Saraki, but the latter is known for his approach to politics, rarely engaging in open confrontations. It’s possible that the two may collaborate in the future for federal interests, especially if it could garner significant support for the President in the state.
Another crucial point is that Dr. Saraki, beyond his personal ambitions, aims to strengthen the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to compete effectively with other major political parties in the future. During our last conversation with Lawal Akanbi Sharafadeen, the media aide to Dr. Saraki, we learned that he is not seeking immediate gains for the PDP. Instead, his primary focus is on repositioning the party and restoring it to its former stature.
Polygamy In The Pulpit: Meet The Nigerian Pastor With 3 Wives; ‘I Can Do 70 Rounds In A Day’
Several media analysts have suggested that Dr. Saraki is aware that the presidency may return to the North in 2031. They note that the PDP is currently weakened and unprepared to compete with the All Progressives Congress (APC), prompting him to build a formidable party in anticipation of 2031 when the presidency will likely be zoned to the North.
Dr. Saraki has repeatedly been mentioned as a potential presidential candidate from the North. Being from the North Central region, he is more than qualified to vie for the top position. Even if he does not secure the ticket, he would likely be compensated with a significant role within the party, having been appointed as the head of the committee to resolve internal issues.
Since the inception of this committee, Dr. Saraki has engaged with various stakeholders, including governors and the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to gain an impartial understanding of the challenges faced by the party. Progress has been made in resolving several issues within the PDP, leading to the reinstatement of key figures, such as the party’s secretary and the acting national chairman. Gradually, a sense of peace is returning to the PDP, and with this peace and unity, the party can regain its strength.
However, some individuals may choose to leave the party regardless of these developments due to their personal agendas. Many of these individuals are either trying to maintain relevance or have been rejected at the grassroots level. While some see themselves as the only viable candidates for the party, true democracy should ensure a level playing field for all members. It is essential for the PDP to return to its original guiding principles in order to provide credible opposition to the current governing party. The focus should be on creating an effective alternative so that citizens can find hope in the opposition when they lose faith in the ruling party, as disclosed by his aide.
Additionally, while working at the federal level, Dr. Saraki is seeking clarification from the federal government on how state matters will be managed. Remember that he was a senator representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District, a seat he lost in the 2019 election to the APC’s Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe. Currently, the Kwara Central senatorial district is represented by Saliu Mustapha of the APC, and Dr. Saraki is already working on plans to unseat the current senator.
The Saraki Support Group is actively mobilizing and sensitizing Kwarans, especially those disillusioned with the current governor’s performance, to return to Dr. Saraki’s political camp. In fact, many people who had previously left the PDP for the APC are now returning to the PDP. Dr. Bukola Saraki has remained quiet but is diligently strategizing on how to approach these developments.
Again, a few weeks ago, close media aides mentioned that many people are still uncertain about how Dr. Bukola will align with Wike in the PDP. “While this concern is valid, I would like to provide an insider perspective as someone with a liberal mindset. Rather than focusing solely on Wike’s perspective, let’s analyze the entire situation more comprehensively and recognize Saraki’s unique abilities one of Saraki’s aides offered. “Over the years, he has proven to be a power broker, a team player, and a skilled leader.
“At the onset of the current crisis, the party was in disarray until Dr. Bukola was appointed as the Chairman of the Reconciliation and Strategy Committee. In just a week or two, he achieved what many pundits deemed impossible. Issues that had long troubled the party, where factions claimed they could never work together, were resolved under his leadership.
In a matter of weeks, he managed to bring everyone back to the negotiation table, even in situations where communication had previously been nonexistent. Despite the long-standing tensions since the last election, Bukola took charge and made significant progress in a very short time”.

Polygamy In The Pulpit: Meet The Nigerian Pastor With 3 Wives; ‘I Can Do 70 Rounds In A Day’

One Woman Can’t Sustain Man – Delta Billionaire Who Just Married 19th Wife

For Chief Jite Tesigimoje, polygamy is not a lifestyle of excess; it is, in his words, a practical truth of human nature. His household is a microcosm of Nigeria’s diversity. He is married to women from nearly all the major ethnic groups—Igbo, Yoruba, Bini, Ijaw, Fulani, Urhobo, Isoko, and his own Itsekiri. To him, it is a reflection of unity and inclusiveness.
“Every man wants to marry two or three wives if he has the capacity,” he said without hesitation.
“The reality is this: after a few years of marriage, a man begins to see his wife differently. He sees her naked from time to time—when she is going into the bathroom and when she comes out and perfects her beauty routines.
“Familiarity sets in, passion fades, and intimacy becomes more like a duty. That is why you hear women complain their husbands no longer love them like before when they just got married.
“It is not that the love is gone; it is that desire has been dulled by routine.”
He advised couples in monogamous relationships to live apart. “If they cannot afford different apartments, they should live in separate rooms.”
He gestured towards one of his wives who sat beside him throughout the conversation, saying: “She is listening and smiling. She knows what I am saying is true.
“She is stunningly beautiful, just like the others. But if she were the only woman in my house, things would be different.
“Men don’t talk about this openly, but I will. No matter how beautiful a woman is, one woman alone cannot sustain a man’s passion forever.”
His argument is not a dismissal of women but a critique of Western ideals. “Our colonial masters told us monogamy is the best way of life. Yet those same people are caught daily in scandals, with mistresses, colleagues, even staff members.
“Why sneak around? Why live in lies? If you admire another woman, marry her. That is better than deceit.”
Tradition and the role of privacy
Chief Tesigimoje links his views not only to personal experience but also to cultural tradition. “In our culture, there is mystery between husband and wife,” he explained.
“When you share the same room, wake up and see everything about your wife every single day, where is the excitement?
“When you start to see her as a sibling, that spark is gone. And incest, as our tradition teaches, is a taboo.
“So why push a man into a life where his wife feels like a sister? Distance and privacy keep the love alive.”
This is where polygamy, in his view, plays a balancing role. “When a man has two or three wives, he creates space. He comes to each one renewed, excited, and appreciative. That freshness keeps love burning.
“I can tell you confidently that many women in polygamous homes are more sexually satisfied than their monogamous counterparts.
“But let us continue to deceive ourselves and build up angry and frustrated women, which will eventually lead to more divorces.”
The demands of a polygamous household
Though he champions polygamy, Tesigimoje admits that marrying more than one wife is not meant for everyone. “Polygamy is cheap only in theory. In reality, it requires enormous financial strength and emotional intelligence.
“It would be suicidal for someone to dabble into polygamy simply because he sees someone else, or because I am doing well in it. You must ask yourself some questions, and one of those is: are you capable?”
Providing insight into the enormous cost he bears in keeping everyone happy and comfortable, Tesigimoje said: “In Lagos, I live in Eko Atlantic City and have 15 houses. Each of my wives lives in a five-bedroom duplex, and they all receive hefty allowances and other perks regularly.
“That is why, when I am in Warri, we can all stay together under one roof peacefully, with some of the wives sharing rooms without any grudges.”
He reiterated that fairness and equity are the backbone of his successful management of his home. “Once I do something for one wife, everyone must get the same treatment. Whether you are the youngest, the oldest, or yet to have any child, you get your due.
“Let me give you an example: yesterday (a day before the interview), I sent some of my wives ₦250,000 each for outings with their children.
“Within minutes, every one of them had heard about it. Those who didn’t get theirs called me to demand answers.
“I got calls from Abuja and Lagos, while those who were in Warri and yet to get their alerts stormed into my room. They had already heard!
“Before the day ended, I spent about ₦3 million on ice cream. That is polygamy. You cannot afford to neglect anyone.”
Contrary to outsiders’ assumptions, the billionaire business mogul revealed that his household thrives on cooperation, not rivalry.
“At my last wedding, all my wives came dressed in the same attire. They danced, they laughed, and they welcomed the new bride. Can you imagine that?
“If there wasn’t unity, they would not have been there, smiling.
“People often think polygamy breeds jealousy, but if you are honest from the start, your home can be harmonious.
“So, even in sharing my bed, my wives are cooperative.
“There is an order as to who comes into the master’s bedroom, but the cooperation of the women makes it even more seamless.”
While hinting at wife No. 20 soon, he warned men against deception. “Do not promise a woman or give her the impression that she will be the only one if you plan otherwise.
“If your heart is set on five or six wives, say it from the start. Once she accepts, she will be at peace with it.
“Problems only come when men pretend. My wives know that I love women, and this (19th wife) might not be the last.”
Strength, fitness and tradition in coping with the demands of 19 wives
Asked how he manages the physical and emotional energy required for such a large family, the billionaire laughed heartily. “Sex is the best exercise—better than any gym. It keeps blood flowing, strengthens the body, and prolongs life.
“Western diets and drugs weaken men. In our tradition, we have herbs that keep a man virile all his life, no matter how long he lives.
“My father is almost 90, and he recently impregnated two women. Virility runs in the family, and I rely on our roots to keep me strong.
“Having many wives and failing to satisfy them would be an abomination.
“Those who have tried my roots and herbs, including traditional leaders and friends, can confirm that I have some of the best herbal roots in the land (laughs).”
Beyond family: A heart for humanity
Despite his colorful personal life, Tesigimoje insists his legacy must be measured not only by his marriages but also by his enormous philanthropy. He recently launched the GIM Brown Foundation to streamline his charitable activities, which escalated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the lockdown, he supported widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. Today, more than 800 widows are on his payroll, as well as hundreds of other PWDs.
“Everything I have is by God’s grace, not my strength. How do I repay Him? I can only do that by helping those who are less fortunate.
“My advice to wealthy Nigerians is: if you have the capacity to uplift others, do not hold back, because the government alone cannot solve the myriad of problems in our society.”
As for his community of Ajudaibo, Escravos, he revealed his plan to kick off an 83-suite hotel, as part of his drive to bring development and opportunity home.
“I love my wives, my children, and my people.
“This is the life I have chosen. It is not for every man. It requires honesty, responsibility, and strength.
“But with God’s grace, I have managed it. And I will continue to use what I have, not just for my family, but for my community and for humanity.”

Trump Threatens ‘All Hell Will Break Out Against Hamas’ If…

President Donald Trump has warned that “all hell, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas” if the militant group does not agree to the Gaza peace deal by his newly-appointed deadline.
“We will have peace in the Middle East one way or the other. The violence and bloodshed will stop. Release the hostages, all of them, including the bodies of those that are dead, now,” said Trump via Truth Social on Friday. “This deal also spares the lives of all remaining Hamas fighters.”
Offering Hamas “one last chance” to sign the deal, which was announced on Monday, Trump issued a deadline of 6 p.m. ET on Sunday night.
The President claimed that 25,000 Hamas members have already been killed in the war, which is approaching its two-year mark on Oct. 7. (TIME has been unable to independently verify this figure.)
“As for the rest, we know where and who you are, and you will be hunted down, and killed,” Trump warned.
Trump and Netanyahu put forth their 20-point Gaza plan after meeting at the White House on Monday.
The proposal includes a framework for the demilitarization of Hamas in Gaza, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli military, the restoration of aid without interference into Gaza, and the establishment of a transitional “apolitical Palestinian committee” to govern the territory.
This “Board of Peace” in Gaza would be led by Trump, as well as former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair, who has participated in talks between Palestinians and Israelis throughout his political career.
At the core of the Gaza agreement lies the demand that all hostages be released. It’s thought that 48 hostages remain in Gaza, with Netanyahu stating that 20 of those are still alive.
Once all the hostages are freed, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1700 Gazans who were detained after Oct. 7, 2023.
Gaza will be redeveloped under the plan, with no Palestinians forced to leave, something which was previously of concern to those living in the territory and others in the international community.
Notably, the 20-point plan does not put forth a two-state solution. Trump and Netanyahu have both voiced their disapproval of Western countries recognizing a Palestinian statehood. The topic featured heavily in their respective speeches during the United Nations General Assembly in September.

Fresh Twist As Peter Obi Reveals Party To Support

With several political alignments in parties across Nigeria and rumors regarding his stability within the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, has made a fresh declaration addressing his critics.
Obi has previously expressed his intention to serve only a single term if elected as president under the ADC banner for the 2027 elections.
However, he faces significant competition within the party, particularly from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who has also shown interest in running for the presidency.
Recently, Abubakar indicated a willingness to step aside for a younger candidate within the party, a statement that could impact the political dynamics leading up to the elections.
Ahead of the February council polls in the Federal Capital Territory, Peter Obi, has pledged support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Moses Paul, stating that he would join him in campaigns across the FCT.
Obi gave the assurance on Wednesday at the Merit House in Abuja during a special Independence program organised by Dr. Paul to sensitise AMAC residents before the official campaign flag-off.
Speaking at the event, Obi said: “Dr. MO will not change, but because human beings can change, I will be shocked if he changes.”
In his remarks, Dr. Paul restated his pledge to restore dignity, prosperity, and service to governance if elected.
He said: “The bitter truth must be told: AMAC has failed. Our markets are trapped in endless litigations, waste management has collapsed, schools were abandoned for months, our health centres are non-functional, insecurity is widespread, businesses are burdened by multiple taxation, and infrastructure is largely absent. This is not governance. This is abandonment.”
He further promised that if elected Chairman, his administration would modernise AMAC markets into centres of economic activity, adding, “If AMAC works, Abuja works. If Abuja works, Nigeria works.”
Also speaking, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, announced the endorsement of Dr. Paul at the event, which was themed “We Don Tire.”

LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON: 19-Year-Old Trump’s Son Shut Down Complete Building For Special Date

President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron, recently shut down an entire floor of Trump Tower for a special date night, according to a report.
The date reportedly meant that the 19-year-old college student had an entire floor of the building closed off to others, the source added. Click link to continue reading.
A source told Page Six that having the romantic meet-up at home — inside the swanky 5th Avenue building that shares his name — was solely for security reasons.
While bringing a crush to a building with your name on it seems like the ultimate flex, we hear the choice to have a date at home was strictly for security reasons.
In fact, the young scion, 19, is so well guarded that an entire floor was shut down for him to have the romantic meet-up, said a source briefed on the matter.
The young Trump lives in DC.
The New York Post exclusively reported that Barron is residing at the White House while he attends classes at the D.C. campus of NYU. Classes began on Sept. 2.
The elite school offers courses in politics, public policy, history, economics and journalism at its outpost in the capital city.
Barron, who stands at an imposing 6’7″, caused a stir amongst the ladies on the school’s main Greenwich Village campus as a freshman last year.
A fellow student tells us that while he was there, he definitely got attention.
“He’s tall and awkward, but he was the thing, the guy. He had a lot of girls running after him.”
Last December a source told People, “He’s at [NYU’s Stern School of Business] so he’s studying business in some way. He’s a ladies’ man for sure. He’s really popular with the ladies. He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive.”
Trump attracted a lot of attention when attending the main NYC campus last year.
Back in April, a source told Page Six that Barron could not give out his phone number to new college friends for fear it would leak to the public, and was instead chatting with pals on the Xbox gaming console’s chat platform.
“It’s his work around,” they said, “He’s still troubleshooting.”
They explained that when it comes to his personal number, “it creates more trouble than it’s worth.”
“If people get the number, they would give it out and then a million people would be calling nonstop,” they said, “You’d have to change the number constantly and it’d become a merry-go-round.”
Despite his size, Barron has rarely been spotted recently.
Back in March, he was seen sporting a nearly $50,000 Rolex on his wrist while arriving at Trump Tower with his mom, Melania Trump.
Forbes just reported his net worth at $150 million, due to investments in cryptocurrency.

Muslim-Muslim Ticket: ‘What Redeemed Church Did To Me’ – Remi Tinubu Opens Up

Remi Tinubu, the First Lady, has shared the difficulties she encountered within her local church after her husband chose to run on a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2023 election.
Ordained as a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal denominations, in 2018, Remi’s journey has not been without its challenges.
Punch newspaper reports that in her new memoir, ‘The Journey of Grace: Giving Thanks in All Things’, the first lady described the episode as a “bitter pill” that caused division in her parish and tested her faith.
The 52-page book, released to mark her 65th birthday, chronicled events from 2021 to 2025, and included a foreword by Folashade Olukoya, wife of the general overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.
Oluremi recalled how the decision to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) reignited sensitive religious debates in Nigeria.
She said despite being a Christian, her faith did not deter her husband’s choice, but it did split her church.
“We kept moving forward with hope in God, and each campaign was interesting despite the fact that all the odds were stacked against him,” she recounted.
“One of such decisions was the unpopular ‘Muslim/Muslim ticket’. My being a Christian did not matter. My local assembly, Redeemed Christian Church of God, was split.”
The former senator also recounted her 2011 senatorial campaign, saying her political posters were rejected by the church.
“I later realised that we are a church like other churches with members of all political parties in attendance,” she wrote.
“I experienced this during my campaign in 2011 for the senate, when I took my campaign posters to the church, and it was rebuffed. After that, I never tried again,” she added.
Remi said while some parishioners showed hostility, many elders and members offered prayers and support, helping her to remain steadfast in her faith.
She said despite the animosity, she never changed her place of worship and credited her spiritual growth to the experience.
“But I kept attending church, and I thank God I have grown from being a baby to a mature Christian,” she wrote.
“So the little resentment I witnessed from a few was met with the peace of God. All the same, despite a few who showed hostility, many were encouraging, especially our elders, who would encourage me from time to time with prayers.
“To this end, I am grateful to God and everyone of them, especially those of them who lived to watch the presidential inauguration when the time came. I thank the pastorate also for making arrangements for them.
“I thank my local assembly because most of them made me feel welcome and comfortable enough to come to church whenever I was home from Abuja, where I was still serving as a senator representing Lagos central senatorial district.”
‘ONLY GOD REWARDS, NOT MAN’
Remi also claimed that some of her husband’s allies deserted him when he decided to pursue the presidency after more than 14 years of contemplation.
She said she has forgiven those who betrayed her husband during the electioneering campaign, adding that she has chosen peace over bitterness.
“He had mused on the idea for over 14 years, and this was where we arrived at a crossroads. Most people I thought would support the idea because of past relationships were not forthcoming,” she wrote.
“After consulting with some of his political allies, he was set to give it a shot. The decision now rested on him to go on or not to. A lot of consultations began.
“Some were favourable, while others were neither here nor there. Some said no indirectly, while others would rather want to see the outcome before taking a position.
“I realised that whatever good you do in life, it is only God who rewards you and not man. I do not have anything against anyone… the question is how did I not feel the betrayal anymore? I knew the grace factor was evident, and the Holy Spirit continually comforted me.”

Dangote Refinery Faces Two New Challenges Amid PENGASSAN’s Strike; Details Emerge

The trouble at Dangote Refinery has reportedly deepened as its petrol-producing unit has shut down
Amid the ongoing industrial dispute against Dangote Refinery by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), the mega refinery has run into new challenges.
Also, data shows that the refinery is facing crude oil challenges as intakes slowed in September.
The refinery’s challenges are also compounded by industrial action as oil unions protest the sack of 800 Nigerian workers at the facility
Africa’s largest refinery is reportedly grappling with operational challenges as crude oil inflows drop sharply in September 2025.
Also, the facility’s petrol-producing unit and residual fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) have allegedly broken down.
According to the petroleum product-tracking platform, PetroleumPriceNG, the failure to issue new pro forma invoices has triggered hoarding at the refinery, leading to higher petrol prices.
Recall that Legit.ng reported that the 650,000 bpd-capacity refinery increased its ex-depot prices for petrol to N860 per litre, up from N825.
Experts attributed the increase, which also affected other depot operators, to a rise in crude prices.
Meanwhile, crude intake into the mega refinery dropped sharply this month. Data from Vortexa shows that inflows dropped to about 250,000 barrels per day.
Energy policy analysts warn that if the scenario continues, it will be the lowest crude supply to the Lekk-based plant since September last year, when Fitch downgraded it and banks tightened finance lines, shrinking its ability to purchase crude.
With less feedstock coming in, the facility cannot run at optimal capacity, which is currently estimated at 500,000 barrels per day. Also, it shows Nigeria’s vulnerability as the world’s largest single-train refinery struggles to maintain stable production.
As crude supply dips, the RFCC has also gone offline for maintenance, with industry watchers speculating that the unit may not resume full operations until early October.
Meanwhile, the refinery has redirected more low-sulphur straight-run fuel into the export market. Data shows that exports hit 320,000 barrels per day this month, the refinery’s highest cargo shipment on record.
The shift may keep revenue coming, but it starves the Nigerian and African market of the much-needed petroleum product supply.
Experts say product inflows from other regions into West Africa have slowed to less than one million tonnes of petrol and blending components in September. The figure is reportedly below the year-to-date average and marks the weakest September arrival on record.
This means West Africa is receiving fewer petrol imports as Dangote struggles to stabilise operations. The squeeze increases the refinery’s dominance as its failure could have multiple ripple effects in the petroleum product market.
The production challenges have affected the downstream sector. In early September, the massive plant halted sales, promising to resume allocation later in the month.
Already, the delay has created panic, as marketers holding old stocks hoard them, selling at premium rates.
Reports say depot prices surged above Dangote’s N820 per litre ex-depot price of N820 to N870, while Wosbab Lagos recorded the highest daily increase at almost three per cent.
The situation at Dangote demonstrates that sheer size does not guarantee stability. The refinery’s challenges highlight Nigeria’s precarious balance between energy security and vulnerability to global oil volatility.
Every disruption quickly translates into inflationary pressures within the downstream market. For Dangote, the immediate priorities are clear: restore RFCC operations and ensure timely PFI issuance.
For Nigeria, the lesson is more profound: without enhanced upstream output and improved policy coordination, the aspiration of affordable, dependable petrol may remain elusive, even with Africa’s largest refinery.

Big Question: Who Will Be Jonathan’s First Lady In 2027?
