HE’S BACK! German midfielder Gundogan returns to Man City
Midfield mastero Ilkay Gundogan has returned to premiership champions Manchester City a year after moving to Spanish giants Barcelona FC.
The 33-year-old midfielder was expected to be a key player in the squad for the foreseeable future.
However, in a sick twist of faith, the veteran was forced out of the club with the arrival of new signing Dani Olmo who also occupies the same position as the player.
The depth of young players they have in the midfield, limited their options to the older player on their books as they opted to ask the German midfielder to leave on a free transfer.
Despite contract proposals from Saudi, Qatar and other clubs, the midfielder contacted his former club about the possibility of coming back to The Etihad.
According to reports, Gundogan will now be making his return to Manchester side and is expected to be formally announced before the end of the week.
