Protest: FG issues travel alert to Nigerians travelling to UK

The Federal Government has issued a travel alert to Nigerians planning to travel to the United Kingdom.
This was contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the Ministry of foreign affairs, Amb. Eche Abu-Obe dated Monday, August 5.
England has been experiencing an eruption of anti-immigrant and far-right violence, towns and cities have been overtaken by mobs of often masked men chanting anti-immigrant slogans, attacking hotels housing asylum seekers and mosques, clashing with police and causing widespread destruction.
ThePAPERS reported that the United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Keir Starmer issued a stark warning to racist far-right thugs rioting in British towns and cities with a āguaranteeā they will face swift justice and āthe full force of the lawā.
In an uncompromising statement to the nation, the prime minister told those behind the appalling scenes in Hull, Halifax, Liverpool, London, Southport and Rotherham: āI guarantee, you will regret itā. More than 100 people have been arrested following the violent disturbances on Saturday.
The travel alert issued by the foreign affairs ministry reads partly, āThere is an increased risk of violence and disorder occasioned by the recent riots in the UK, stemming from the killing of 3 young girls at a concert.
āThe violence has assumed dangerous proportions as evidenced by reported attacks on Law enforcement agents and damage to infrastructure. To this end, citizens are advised to be extra vigilant and take measures as follows:
āAvoid political processions and protests, rallies or marches
āAvoid crowded areas and large gatherings
āBe vigilant and self aware at all times.
