Man United confident of Silva move

Manchester United have had a busy transfer window already but are “convinced” they can land Benfica defender Antonio Silva, according to O Jogo.

Silva, 20, is one of the best young defenders in the world and United are looking to add to the €62 million signing of Lille’s Leny Yoro with Silva, though they have also been linked with Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Portugal international has a €100m release clause in his contract and Chelsea reportedly saw a €60m offer rejected by Benfica in January.

But for some reason, United seem to think they will succeed with a €50m bid during this window.
