Nicolas Kuhn celebrates scoring against Man City

Manchester City suffered a shock 4-3 defeat in their first pre-season friendly in the United States to Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Pep Guardiola handed Erling Haaland the captain’s armband and gave starts to academy graduates Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Nico O’Reilly along with first-teamers Stefan Ortega, Rico Lewis, Kalvin Phillips, Oscar Bobb and Jack Grealish.

Brendan Rodgers named a strong Celtic side with new signing Kasper Schmeichel in goal, a midfield of Matt O’Riley, Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate with Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo up top.

Kuhn’s first-half double sandwiched Bobb’s leveller before Kyogo gave Celtic a 3-1 lead heading into the break.

Maximo Perrone pulled one back within the first minute of the season half and then Haaland equalised before the hour mark.

But Celtic’s winner came when Hyeok-Kyu Kwon broke the offside trap and squared for Luis Palma to tap in
