Tinubu to attend inauguration of Déby as Chad’s President

President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday, May 23, for N’Djamena, the Republic of Chad, to attend the inauguration of President-elect Mahamat Déby.

The inauguration follows Déby’s declaration as the winner of the country’s presidential election earlier this month, which was subsequently affirmed by the Constitutional Court of Chad.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Wednesday, May 22, President Tinubu will be accompanied on the trip by senior government officials and will return after the ceremony.

“President Bola Tinubu will on Thursday, May 23, depart Abuja for N’Djamena, the Republic of Chad, to attend the inauguration of President Mahamat Déby.

“The inauguration of President Déby follows his declaration as the winner of the country’s presidential election earlier this month and subsequent affirmation by the Constitutional Court of Chad.

“President Tinubu will be accompanied on the trip by senior government officials and will return after the ceremony”, the statement said.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 23, in N’Djamena, the capital city of Chad, and will be attended by dignitaries from across the region and beyond.
