A man in Adamawa State has been killed by another man who has confessed to have been in a long adulterous relationship with the deceased’s wife.
A 35-year-old Ishaya Markus has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command for fatally stabbing the deceased, Franchise Albert.
It was learnt Friday morning that the confrontation that led to Franchise Albert’s death occurred on the 3rd of this month in Fufore local government area where Franchise and his 20-year-old wife, Libiyatu, lived.
The facts on the matter have it that the couple had been having issues since 2022 when she allegedly started having an affair with Ishaya.
Franchise, it is said, warned both his wife and the suspect, only for both to continue seeing each other.
Libiyatu, in her confession to the Police, said, “My husband had warned us when he got wind of what we were doing. He and I fought over the issue, as a result of which I left for my parents’ house. Ishaya followed and took me into the bush and had an affair with me on five ocassions.”
She said even after she later resolved her issues with her husband and he asked her to return to her matrimonial home, Ishaya Markus kept turning up for her, until the fight between him and her husband that turned deadly.
Taking the story from there, Ishaya, admitting to having had an affair with the wife of the late Franchise and then killing him in a fight, recounted the fight.
He said, “On that fateful day, I went to the community where the deceased and his wife live. I went there to take her out again, but I did not meet her. While I was returning home, I met with the deceased and he asked me whether I went to see his wife again. Fight ensued in the course of argument.
“He pulled out his knife and I pulled out my own and we engaged in a bloody fight. He cut me in my hand and by the neck. I stabbed him in his stomach two times and by the neck, leading to his death.”
The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had ordered full investigation into the matter.
He assured that proper prosecution of the suspect would follow to get to the logical end of the matter.
