36 Students Abducted as Terrorists Attack Secondary School Again

Details have emerged regarding a tragic incident involving a raid conducted by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province insurgents at Government Day Secondary School Lassa, located in the Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to a list obtained from school registers, the abducted individuals include eleven male and twenty-five female students, with a breakdown of eighteen from Senior Secondary One, seventeen from Senior Secondary Two, and one from Senior Secondary Three.

The heavily armed attackers struck the school at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Monday, during which a teacher was fatally shot for resisting the militants.

Additionally, another person sustained severe injuries and has since been transported to the hospital for treatment. This assault on the village of Lassa is particularly alarming, as it follows a similar incident on May 15, when forty-two pupils were taken from a school in the nearby Mussa community, located just twenty kilometers away.

The document containing the identities of the missing teenagers was compiled through a joint effort between the administrative staff of the institution and the distressed families, according to Hon Jagila Jabula, the councillor representing Lassa Ward.

“The list of students abducted during the invasion of Government Day Secondary School Lassa, Askira Uba LGA of Borno State, has been obtained,” Jabula stated in a public update regarding the crisis.
