REVEALED: How Northerners advised Tinubu not to make El-rufai minister, full details emerge

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has faced criticism for his remarks directed at President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, following his exclusion from the current administration.

In an interview with Arise TV, El-Rufai expressed discontent with certain policies enacted by the president and explicitly stated that he has never considered himself an ally of Tinubu.

An anonymous chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North suggested that El-Rufai’s recent comments stem from disappointment and frustration regarding his omission from the government.

At 65 years of age, El-Rufai, a founding member of the ruling APC, was initially anticipated to be among Tinubu’s most influential cabinet members; however, his nomination was subsequently declined by parliament.

The source said: “He was forming mini government before he was announced as minister, he was already feeling like a god, and it is his people that warned Tinubu never to allow the man be part of his government.”

“He has a serious agenda, and no government will harbour someone like that. What he’s saying everywhere now is like he’s frustrated, and he’s seeking attention. Of course, Tinubu was never El-rufai’s friend; he never liked Tinubu, and what many people don’t know is that he supported the Southerner because of his political selfishness. Tinubu Was Never My Friend, We Weren’t Close – El-rufai

According to him, during the 2022 presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, he was indifferent on the choice of candidate.

According to him, his only concern was for a Southerner to emerge as the party’s flagbearer, stressing that whoever the South presented didn’t matter.

He said, “I was indifferent on who became the presidential candidate of APC.

“The only thing I was determined to do was to stop a Northerner from becoming the candidate of the party based on what I know.

“When we formed the party in 2013, we agreed that after Buhari’s 8 years, power will go to the South.

“Tinubu was never my friend, we weren’t close”.
