The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has advised Davido, the Afrobeats singer, not to “allow anyone drag you into politics”.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has advised Davido, the Afrobeats singer, not to “allow anyone drag you into politics”.

Akpabio gave the advice when the ‘Assurance’ hitmaker paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Monday.

During the visit, Akpabio praised Davido for “making Nigeria proud within the international community”.

The former Akwa Ibom governor also pledged the government’s support towards the growth of the entertainment industry.

Akpabio charged the Afrobeats singer to maintain his path in the entertainment industry and “not allow anybody to drag you into politics”.

The senate leader said although Davido supports the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the current administration of President Bola Tinubu is ready to work across party lines “for the interest of the country”.

“You have made us very proud within the International Community. We will do everything possible to support the entertainment industry,” he said.

“For me and for the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, its an inclusive administration, and you must have noticed in my various outings, we move as one, across party lines.

Davido, on his part, appreciated the senate president for his gesture while reiterating his efforts to “help the society”.

The 31-year-old, who was in the company of Tunji and Folasade Adeleke, his cousins, also announced that his fifth album will be released in June or July.

“As for me, I am doing my part. I have a Foundation. Every year, I share N300 million, N400 million to orphanages. Just doing my own part to assist the society. We have new album coming out June or July. I just thank you for everything you have been doing for us,” Davido said.

Natasha Osawaru that attracted 2Baba

It is no longer news that popular Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia has openly declared Natasha Osawaru, an Edo State female politician, the new love of his life. This is a few weeks after he announced his separation from his wife, Actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia.

The trending romance only began when the singer unexpectedly visited the Edo State House of Assembly during a plenary session, which caused a stir at the complex and prompted reactions among fans about his relationship with the lawmaker.

Osawaru’s Dress to Kill could have been a style that attracted the multiple award-winning singer.
It can be recalled that in 2024, there was mild drama at a plenary session at the Edo State House of Assembly, when the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Osawaru, was ordered to leave for improper dressing and wearing a dark shade.

The Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, ordered the lawmaker representing Egor Constituency to leave the session following a point of order raised by Nicholas Asonsere, representing Ikpoba Okha Constituency.

In his point of order, Asonsere said the Deputy Majority Leader’s mode of dressing was against the rules of the House.

“This hallowed chamber is a sacred home. We will not continue to accept or allow anybody to bring it to disrepute.

“We have tolerated enough of the attitude and behaviour of some honourable members so to speak, and if we did not correct this now, it would become a precedent for others to emulate, if not now, shortly.

“Please, Mr Speaker if I have the permission, I want to crave the indulgence to read some rules of the House sections and subsections.

“We have our own Bible which is often referred to as the Rules of the Edo State House of Assembly upon this we are being guided.

“Any member that violates or contravenes the rules is punishable by the law,” he said.

While ordering the Deputy Majority Leader to leave the chamber, the Speaker said the action was not his own making but in accordance with the House rules.

“Improper dressing and wearing of dark shade is not allowed in this House. It is not me who said it but the House rules. So, please, let us always comply with these our rules,” he added.

2Baba openly declared his love and affection for Osawaru in a video shared recently, while declaring that he planned on marrying her and that Annie had a perfect understanding of the whole situation.

“To Whom It May Concern. #I do yarn my truth. Feel free to continue alleging. We shall all be alright. Natasha is a young, brilliant, and amazing woman who has been unfairly labelled as a home breaker. Allegedly, I have been seeing so many things, so many people coming up with their false narratives and malicious nonsense after I posted that stuff that I posted.

'I was depressed' -Tiwa Savage opens up about her divorce from TeeBillz

Tiwa Savage, the Nigerian singer, has opened up about her divorce from Tunji ‘TeeBillz‘ Balogun, her ex-husband.

The duo divorced in 2018 after efforts to resolve the differences in their marriage proved abortive.

In an interview with The Receipts Podcast, the ‘Kele Kele’ hitmaker revealed that her ex-husband was responsible for the divorce.

The award-winning songstress said at the time, she was struggling with postpartum depression after giving birth to their son.

The 44-year-old singer said she faced intense criticism from the public, with many attacking her without giving her a chance to share her side of the story.

She also recalled how some prominent figures advised her to remain silent about the incident to protect her reputation.

“When I came out, I was Nigeria’s sweetheart when I started and I could do no wrong in Nigerian’s eyes. I did everything by the book. I went to university and I wasn’t a baby mama. I got married then I had a baby so I did everything in the right order and everybody loved me and then everything happened,” she said.

“Then I started getting hate from blogs and I started getting hate from certain people. The way our situation happened, he announced it online. I didn’t break up with him but I was the one being attacked.

“At the time, my baby was just a few months old and I was dealing with postpartum and my body wasn’t the same and I was depressed. Everyone then went to him and only a few people came to see me.

“After I interviewed to tell my side of the story, it got worse. People were like ‘How dare you go and talk’ ‘You’re a woman and you’re supposed to build the house, it’s your fault’.

“I remember famous people calling me to ask how I could tell my side of the story cuz I’d never win. Ever since then, I was like I won’t ever talk about the situation because it was very heartbreaking how the public took it and blamed me.”

She added that the experience was an “eye-opener” that made her become “wild and carefree”.

“It was an eye-opener for me and it made me depressed for so long. It got me angry then I became the ‘African Bad Girl’,” she added.

“I thought to myself that after doing everything right I was still attacked. Then I started getting tattoos and wearing short skirts and bikini. I was just wild.”
