Nigerian Afrobeats star and Grammy nominee, Ayra Starr has described her sound as highly eccentric and unique.

The Mavins artist made this known in a chat after emerging Spotify EQUAL Africa and Global Artist for May 2024.

“I would describe my sound as highly vibrational, eccentric, unique, and beautiful,” she said, describing her infectious sound.

On how she feels with the honour from the music streaming platform, Ayra Starr said, “It means everything to me because I am a girl and I have to support my gender and level the playing field.

“There are so many women in music today, behind the scenes, in front of the camera, musicians, sound engineers, all these women working hard and Spotify EQUAL is doing a great job in highlighting all their hard work.”

The 21-year-old also hinted that she has a new single with Seyi Vibes entitled ‘Bad Vibes.’

“Yes. I have a new single with Seyi Vibes called ‘Bad Vibes’ and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it. It’s amazing and it’s one of those songs that makes you feel good. The best part about it is that it is not just a regular Afrobeat record, it’s like genres intertwined.”

According to a post on Facebook, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshall K1 De Ultimate confessed his latest move: “All my life I do research. Every opportunity that I have. Presently I am in school. As a matter of fact, I will soon be a fresher at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU). I am just trying to do things in my own way to suit myself. You learn till you die,”

“Very recently I had the opportunity to go and attend a function at the OOU. We had a mass set of graduands. The bands on the stand tried their hands on some of my works to recognise my presence. I was so overjoyous that time.

So, in the form of wanting to appreciate them more, I sought to speak to the leader of the band and there I was told it was a band from the music class of OOU and they just started that class. I showed so much interest. I called for further discussion and in the cause of doing that I told them I want to enroll. I want to be part of them to see how we can develop a lot out of that.

“… part of what I also discussed with the dean of the school of music at OOU was that we can do better. To bring a whole lot of artistes.

The state is blessed with many names like Haruna Ishola, Ayuba, Shina Peters, Wizkid, Olamide, and D’banj. I told the dean that people like me can be used to bring everybody together and develop.

That is what prompted me to want to go back to school.

Ace Nigerian singer, Solidstar has recounted his struggles with the use of hard substances.

The “Omotena” hitmaker disclosed in a sneak peek of an upcoming Honest Bunch podcast episode that he was first exposed to “ice” in 2021 by a group of young boys.

As a stimulant substance, ice, commonly referred to as crystal methamphetamine, quickens the flow of information between the brain and body.

The artist claimed that the drug had a very negative impact on him. He claimed that after taking the hard drug, a voice would urge him, “me not to pay for things,” and he would begin to feel like a king.

Solidstar recalled walking from Awoyaya in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, to the Oriental Hotel on Victoria Island, an estimated seven-hour journey, during his drug addiction.

“A lot of things happened to me. A couple of young boys introduced me to this substance called ice. This was three years back. The thing really affected me a lot,” he said.

“Sometimes this substance will tell me you are king, you are this, you are that, make I no dey pay for stuffs. Can you imagine say I waka from Awoyaya to Oriental Hotel.”

Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor has called on Nigerians to assist him financially to carry out a kidney transplant in India.

In a video circulating on social media, the popular actor was seen laying on a bed, pleading for help.

His Nollywood colleague Kingsley Orji, who was seated next to him, made an appeal on his behalf.

Orji revealed that Amaechi Muonagor left the teaching hospital some days ago due to financial constraints.

He stated that the illness had affected his speech and urged fans and well-wishers to contribute for a transplant surgery.

“It has not been easy. He has been in this condition for months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant. What we want is for you to help us for him to travel to India,” Orji said.

“He just came back from the ICU in Nnewi teaching hospital a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well.

“We decided to bring him home because there was no money but it is not advisable. He barely talks well. Please, he needs your help.”

Recall in November 2023, Amaechi Muonagor had cried out for help after revealing that he was battling paralysis which has affected half of his first leg

His words: “I’m sick, this thing that is called stroke caught up with me, and from there they rushed me to the hospital. The first hospital they rushed me to was in Nnewi, where I spent some two months and I was referred to Teaching Hospital Nnewi and here I am.

“I was on a movie set with Emeka Ani, Patience Ozokwo, Rita Edochie, and Ebele Okaro. I was about to enter my car when I was struck with this problem and since then it has been getting worse. Right now, I can’t move, I can’t walk on my own. Half of my left leg is paralyzed, my left hand is not movable, so it is a problem for me.

“I’m calling on well spirited individuals to come to my assistance, to see how they can help me. It is paralysis, half of my body.”

Nollywood actor, Titilope Kuti, better known as Ade Tiger, for his role in the Netflix adapted series, King of Boys, has revealed that his transition from his role in the Kemi Adetiba-directed blockbuster, King of Boys, to his role as Adigun in Kunle Afolayan’s new Netflix series, ‘Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre, came as a shock to him.

The actor made this known in a statement on Friday when PUNCH Online quizzed him on his experience with the new series.

According to Ade Tiger, as he is fondly called among his peers and fans alike, transitioning from his role as a political thug in King of Boys to a local hunter in Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre shocked him beyond his imagination.

He said, “It was actually a huge shocker, bigger than I imagined, many of them come on my social media daily to verify if it truly was me in Anikulapo. The experience while filming was totally worth every sacrifice.

“The entire filming took about 87 days to shoot. I put the same level of commitment as I did for King of Boys (if not more this time), I was totally immersed in the character from day 1 and stayed there all through, I was Adigun when offset until the very end (I remember Taiwo Hassan, Ogogo’s reaction when we shot our first scene together in the palace, he said ‘I was worried for you initially, but I see you came ready.’

“There were lots of challenging points but we all stuck together like one family from start to finish, looking after one another. This is what we have to give every time as actors, surrendering ourselves to become different characters just to give the audience an experience. I will do it again anytime called. It’s a life of service.”

On how he got the role in the series, he said, “I did not audition for the role, but I did a reading to assess my local dialect as a hypothesis for the amount of work required and how long it might take. Kunle Afolayan was very intentional with me on this role, he had mentioned it to me three years ago, so when the call came, I was willing to surrender the same level of commitment to building the character and perfect my dialect in reciprocity for the weight of trust invested in me against all odds. Yes, there were those that might have discouraged him, that I won’t be able to pull it off.”

He added that since shooting the series, he has observed that the public’s reaction regarding his role in the movie has been that of shock and disbelief.

He said, “Total shock and disbelief, the makeover was incredible (great work from the special effects and make-up team), Adigun and Ade Tiger are also two extreme ends of opposite spectrums, nothing similar at all, two completely different types of films, and then there is the Yoruba thing with me speaking ancient dialect and all.

“I am not really sure which they find surprising the most or if it is all of it put together but the feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive and I am honoured to once again give the fans an experience.”

Since he starred in King of Boys 1 and 2, Ade Tiger has been on the steady rise in his quest for deserved fame.

King of Boys 2, an August 2021, seven-episode Netflix adapted series directed by Kemi Adetiba, shot the talented actor to prominence.

In a 2022 interview with The PUNCH, the actor explained how challenging his role in King of Boys was.

He said, “Very challenging, I must admit this here. Playing the character ‘Ade Tiger’ in the King of Boys was one of the most challenging roles I have ever played in acting but I am happy I took that role up because of my drive to take risks and sincerely I cannot believe some of the awesome reviews I have been receiving since the second season came out.

“Being on the same set with Sola Sobowale, Remilekun Safaru, Akin Lewis, Richard Mofe-Damijo and others brought the best out of me and I can tell you this. It makes me feel good and there is nothing more satisfying than seeing your dream playing a top role in a big movie like King of Boys.”

Award-winning Nigerian singer, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has made a shocking revelation about his marriage status.

Reports say that the singer, during a banter with an X user who was making sexual advances at him, revealed that he has been married since 2020.

Although the’ Twe Twe’ crooner did not reveal the identity of his wife, he affirmed that his marriage would last.

He added that his wife hails partly from Warri and Igbo, wakes up around 4:30 to prepare breakfast and tolerate all his bad habits.
