Senate confirms Betta Edu as minister

The Senate has confirmed the former Cross River State Health Commissioner, Dr. Betta Edu, as one of the ministers of Federal Republic of Nigeria on Monday
After revealing her interesting Curriculum Vitae and achievements, the All Progressives Congress National Leader was quizzed on how the improvement of Nigeria’s health sector can be achieved through her ministry.
In her responses, Edu was able to justify her instant nomination as Minister, educating the Senate on how why the Nigeria health sector can put a stop on ‘Japa syndrome’

Her words: “Poor coordination among key players, fragmentation, Japa syndrome etc are some of the causes of the decay in the health sector. Nigeria as a country must concentrate on Health insurance”

“There must be a change of payment structure for Nigerian doctors, to get better incentives and make them stay back. Make the environment more conducive for them to stay. Create more structure where health workers can stay outside the structure we have. Nigeria should be headed at the speed of light to achieve Universal basic health care”
