LP disowns lawmaker-elect Ogah for praising Tinubu

Labour Party House of Representatives members-elect, Amobi Ogah, has been blasted by the leadership of the party over his recent statement on President Bola Tinubu.
Ogah, who is the lawmaker representing Isuikwuato-Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State on Thursday expressed his admiration for Tinubu saying he never knew he was so intelligent.
The lawmaker made the statement shortly after the presidentās meeting with the lawmakers elect for the 10th Assembly at the State House.

He said:
āToday is my best day. Iām so happy that Iām an elected member seeing my president talking. In fact, Iāve never known that this man is so intelligent,ā he said.
āI never knew that this man is so prepared to serve this country. I saw the love, character, and charisma ā the belief that Nigeria can be a better nation.ā

He consequently pledged his support to the president, saying the interest of the country is above party affiliation.
Meanwile, in a statement released on Friday in Abuja titled āHon. Ogahās position on President Tinubuās leadership, personal not party position.ā
The statement was signed by the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh.
According to him, such a comment shouldnāt be coming from any LP member at a time when LP presidential candidate is battling to reclaim his mandate at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The statement read in part:
āThe attention of the leadership of the Labour Party has been drawn to an interview granted by one of our House of Representatives members-elect, Hon. Amobi Ogah wherein he expressed his satisfaction with the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that some of his colleagues have āagreed to go towards government decisionā on the leadership of the 10th Assembly.
āAs an individual, he does not have the mandate to speak for the party and therefore cannot claim to be standing on the platform of the Labour Party to do same, giving views that are diametrically opposed to what Labour Party stands for.
āLabour Party is presently in the tribunal hoping to retrieve our mandate which was expressively given to our presidential candidate on February 25, and every testament emanating from the tribunal points to the fact that Labour Party clearly won the election but was robbed. We have remained resolute to our belief that justice will be done and so soon.
