The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from the visit of President-elect, Bola Tinubu, to the state on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

It was gathered that Tinubu’s visit to Rivers would span two days and would include the commissioning of a flyover at Rumuokwuta and Rumuola junction in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area and a Magistrate Court complex at the Moscow Road in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.

In a statement on Tuesday, the APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, said that the party had no involvement with Tinubu’s visit.

Nwauju criticized Governor Wike, telling him to refrain from playing divisive politics and sowing discord amongst opposition political parties.

He also accused Wike of trying to create a false perception of the collapse of the APC structure in Rivers, despite his previous statements boasting of the party’s strength.

Nwauju further stated that the APC’s focus is on pursuing justice by challenging the outcome of the flawed March 18 elections at the Elections Petitions Tribunal.

Meanwhile, Governor Wike has declared Wednesday a public holiday and urged the people to give Tinubu a warm reception.
