According to a report by PUNCH on Sunday 8th March 2026, Residents in parts of Lagos State will experience a temporary electricity disruption as the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced a scheduled power outage to carry out maintenance and upgrade works on its network.

In a public notice to customers, the distribution company explained that the planned outage is necessary to allow engineers conduct improvement works at the Lekki Injection Substation, aimed at strengthening electricity supply and improving service reliability.

According to EKEDC, communities within the Lekki district will experience a three-day blackout from Thursday, March 13 to Saturday, March 15, 2026; During the period, electricity supply will be interrupted daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The company said the exercise forms part of efforts to upgrade the power infrastructure and support the growing electricity demand in the Lekki corridor.

In another notice, EKEDC also announced a one-day power outage in Apapa and nearby areas on Saturday, March 14, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The company explained that the outage in the Apapa axis will enable contractors working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out critical maintenance and network upgrade activities.

EKEDC apologized to customers who may be affected by the temporary interruption, assuring them that the maintenance work is necessary to enhance electricity distribution and improve the stability of the network.
