JUST IN: Another Senator Dumps PDP, Gives Reason

Amos Yohanna, the lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senator explained that his decision was prompted by the lingering internal crisis that has continued to plague the opposition party.

Yohanna stated that the unresolved leadership and structural challenges within the PDP had made it increasingly difficult for him to effectively serve his constituency and contribute meaningfully to the development of both his district and Adamawa State.

He further noted that the persistent turmoil within the party hindered his ability to make any significant impact within the PDP.

He said, “Today, I have officially resigned from my position as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party,” he said on Tuesday.

“Over time, the persistent internal crisis, unresolved conflicts, and lack of cohesion within the party have made it increasingly difficult for me to contribute meaningfully to the growth and stability of the party,” Yohanna said.

While he did not categorically state which party he would be joining, it is believed that the lawmaker might be heading towards the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

An ally of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Yohanna’s resignation comes days after the governor defected from the PDP to the APC.

Fintiri’s defection from the PDP on Friday, March 27, has triggered a wave of resignation within the party with several analysts questioning the political strength of the former vice president Atiku Abubakar in the state.
