Lagos Speaker’s Son Assumes Office As LG Chairman

Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa has been officially inaugurated as the executive chairman of Agege Local Government, following a ceremony officiated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos.
In his speech after taking the oath of office, Obasa emphasized that his new role reflects a commitment to serve the community with dedication and responsibility.
He described this moment as the beginning of a new chapter for the council, highlighting his intention to promote inclusive governance and drive development at the grassroots level.
During his time as acting chairman, Obasa focused on principles of service and inclusivity, pledging to build upon the progress already made and to expand initiatives that will benefit local residents.
“I reaffirm my commitment to empowerment, progress and inclusion, and to people-focused governance for the people of Agege,” he said.
He described his inauguration as a collective moment for the council and its residents, pledging to work with stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.
Obasa thanked residents and party leaders for the trust reposed in him, saying the council would prioritise policies that improve welfare and local infrastructure.
He added that the administration would pursue a vision of shared progress and sustainable development across communities in Agege.
