Ex-Ogun Governor breaks silence on APC suspension

Former Ogun State Governor and current Senator for Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has formally responded to his suspension by the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that he has not received any official notification regarding this action.
On Wednesday, his media aide, Steve Oliyide, stated that no formal letter pertaining to the allegations of anti-party activities or the reported suspension had been delivered to the senator.
This statement follows an announcement by the Ogun APC, which indicated that both Daniel and another party member, Kunle Folarin, had been suspended indefinitely.
The party’s spokesperson, Nuberu Olufemi, revealed that the suspension was a consequence of recommendations made by disciplinary committees established in Ward 4 and Ward 6 of the Sagamu Local Government Area.
According to Olufemi, the committees accused both Daniel and Folarin of engaging in anti-party activities and misconduct. It was reported that the committees extended invitations for them to present their defenses; however, both individuals did not respond or attend the scheduled hearings.
In a statement affirming the suspension, the chairman of the Ogun APC, Chief Yemi Sanusi, explained that the indefinite suspension was enacted to uphold the integrity of the disciplinary process and to facilitate thorough investigations.
Sanusi indicated that the committees based their findings on witness testimonies and documentary evidence, further alleging that Daniel and Folarin had attempted to intimidate party members and exert pressure to rescind their petitions.
“The committees resolved to suspend the members indefinitely, pending further investigation and the outcome of the inquiry,” stated Sanusi.
