Tension in Ekiti as governor sacks Commissioners, Special Advisers
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council, effective immediately.
This declaration was made late Sunday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro.
She instructed all affected Commissioners and Special Advisers to transfer their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary or the most senior civil servant within their respective ministries, departments, and agencies.
Governor Oyebanji expressed his gratitude to the outgoing officials for their contributions and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors.
The announcement clarified that the dissolution does not apply to certain key members of the cabinet, specifically the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; the Commissioner for Health and Human Services; the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security; the Commissioner for Education; the Commissioner for Works; the Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry, and Cooperatives; the Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion; and the Special Adviser on Lands, Survey, and e-GIS.
Furthermore, all Directors General who are members of the State Executive Council will retain their positions. This includes the Director General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD); the Director General of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Project Monitoring; and the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
