The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil, has extended a firm message to opposition political parties, urging them to refrain from wasting their resources and efforts on campaigning in Plateau for the upcoming 2027 Presidential election.

In remarks made to journalists following the meeting, the Speaker highlighted that the impressive track record of President Tinubu’s leadership has fostered a solid sense of loyalty among voters in Plateau State.

During a recent courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, held in Abuja, Gapyil expressed his strong belief in the unshakeable support of the Plateau electorate for President Bola Tinubu.

He firmly stated that the public has decisively chosen to back President Tinubu and that the prevailing political climate offers little opportunity for any opposition candidate to pose a serious challenge, particularly in Plateau.

Speaker Gapyil further emphasized the dominant position of the APC in the state, noting its significant influence across various political arenas. He pointed out that the party’s stronghold is evident not only in the Plateau State Assembly but also in the Senate and the House of Representatives. This overwhelming representation reinforces the APC’s status as the leading political force in Plateau, ensuring that the party remains firmly positioned as the preferred choice for voters as they approach the 2027 elections.

Addressing newsmen after the visit, the Speaker said due to the quality leadership of President Tinubu, there will be no room for any opposition politician to defeat him, especially in Plateau state.

He added that the APC is clearly the leading party in the state with clear dominance in the State Assembly, the Senate and the House of Representatives.

“In Plateau State, we have 22 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly who are APC. And if you cascade it down to our various wards, we have structures all over the place, campaigning for APC and the Renew Hope Agenda .We are doing that collectively, knowing fully well that if we do not stand to promote the party, of course, the chances are that we might not be able to make it in 2027.

“So what we are doing silently that people are not aware is the simple fact that as a House, we have a caucus. And in this caucus, each one of us is engaging these people. And we have a meeting point where we share ideas, and we have a meeting point where we share ideas, and get feedbacks of those things that we are doing.

“Concerning Mr. President on the plateau, we don’t even know whether there is any other party, because even the party that you would not even expect to campaign for Mr. President are already campaigning for him. So my advice to the opposition parties is that they should not waste their time coming to Plateau state for campaign in 2027 because the state is for the APC”.

Earlier in his welcome address, the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda said the party will support its members across board to win their various elections, adding that by so doing, the party will become the destination of choice for all Nigerians.

“The party is the vehicle and we the members are the mechanics that repair it. We must begin to restructure the party from the ward level, we have 23 governors and still counting, over 70 senators and several members of the House of Representatives. No party is competing with us at the moment.

“We must rally to solve the problems of Nigerians. They voted our party to solve their problems and I am happy the President has started rebuilding hope; we have provided by students’ loan to ease the education of our children. The federal government has injected over N1.5 billion into the agricultural sector to ensure that there is adequate food security in the country.

“The government has been progressive both in policies and delivery, so we need your hands to drive the manifesto of APC and as a party, we will continue to support you people”.

Yilwatda also charged the Plateau lawmakers to use the opportunity of the bye-elections in some neighboring states to visit them and campaign for the victory of APC members.
