INEC Finally Declares Winner of Ekiti Governorship Election

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has made history by becoming the first serving governor of the state to secure re-election, achieving victory across all 16 local government areas.

The official announcement was made by State Returning Officer Professor Adenike Oladiji, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

Oyebanji received a substantial 319,224 votes, which accounts for over 80 percent of the total votes cast in the recent off-cycle election.

Professor Oladiji confirmed that Oyebanji met the necessary legal requirements by obtaining the highest number of votes, leading to his declaration as the winner and duly elected governor.

The runner-up, Dr. Wole Oluyede from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), finished significantly behind with 40,543 votes, while Oluwadare Bejide from the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) came in third with only 12,872 votes.
