PDP Suspends Bode George, 23 Others in Fresh Crisis

A faction within the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the suspension of former Deputy National Chairman Bode George and 23 other members due to alleged anti-party activities.
This decision was communicated in a statement released on Friday and was signed by Kayode Ogunbiyi, the Chairman of the partyās disciplinary committee, along with Secretary Desmond Agbo.
The faction emphasized that the suspension was necessary to maintain party unity and address conduct that could potentially create discord among members.

This action followed a meeting of the disciplinary committee held on May 26, 2026, where they reviewed various petitions alleging anti-party activities and violations of the PDP constitution against specific members.
āThe decision to suspend George and other erring members was contained in the resolution of the meeting held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, where various petitions were presented against certain notable personalities and other members bordering on issues of anti-party activities and deliberate infractions of the PDP Constitution,ā the statement read.

The disciplinary committee also said it reviewed an earlier disciplinary action allegedly taken against George by the partyās National Executive Committee.
āThe Committee also reviewed the action previously taken against former Chief Olabode George by the National Executive Committee, which suspended him from the party, and reaffirmed that he remains suspended as earlier pronounced,ā it added.
Others affected by the suspension include Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shele, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor and Onikepo Oshodi.
The committee said it also considered cases of members allegedly collaborating with rival political parties or engaging in unauthorised political activities that run counter to the interests of the PDP.
The faction said all suspended members would no longer participate in PDP activities in Lagos State. It added that they could no longer represent the party in any official or unofficial capacity.
The party also warned that legal action could be taken against any suspended member found acting against its interests in the state.
