APC Primaries: Powerful 50 Lawmakers Among Losers (FULL LIST)

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee has decided to disqualify Wole Oke from participating in the party’s primary election for the Obokun-Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State.

This information was reported by Independent, noting that Oke was informed of his disqualification during his appearance before the committee in Abuja on Wednesday.

Sources close to the situation indicate that the disqualification was primarily influenced by zoning considerations within the constituency.

Insiders from the party have suggested that there is a prevailing belief among some members of the screening committee that the APC ticket should be allocated to Oriade Local Government Area, rather than Obokun, which is Oke’s home area.

Wole Oke has had a long-standing political career, having represented the Obokun-Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for 24 consecutive years. His latest bid was aimed at securing a seventh consecutive term in the National Assembly, but this recent development effectively ends his attempt to retain the seat.

The lawmaker was originally elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the APC last year.

He was recently appointed Director-General of the APC campaign team for the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

In the forthcoming governorship election, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji is expected to challenge Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party (AP), who is seeking re-election.
