APC Governorship Aspirant Resigns

Chief Saheed Oladele, a gubernatorial aspirant representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State for the upcoming 2027 elections, has officially resigned from the party.

This announcement was made on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capital, where Oladele is originally from, specifically the Ibadan North Local Government Area.

In his resignation, which he submitted to the APC chairman in Ward 4 of Ibadan North LGA, Oladele expressed his commitment to serving as a bridge between the older and younger generations in the political landscape.

He highlighted his significant contributions to the party’s development but expressed concerns that recent events indicate a reluctance within the APC to allow meaningful participation of young people in decision-making processes.

In his resignation letter, he wrote, “I write to formally tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party I have loved, believed in, and diligently served since its inception.

“My journey within the party has been one of commitment, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to its ideals. As a gubernatorial aspirant,

“I worked tirelessly, not just in pursuit of personal ambition, but in fostering unity, strengthening structures, and building bridges across different interests within our great party. My footprints in promoting cohesion and harmony remain evident in the many efforts made to bring stakeholders together under a shared vision of progress for Oyo State.

“However, recent developments and party positions have made it increasingly clear that, within Oyo State, the APC is not yet prepared to give young people a seat at the decision-making table, but rather prefers to engage them as instruments without corresponding influence. This reality stands in contrast to the values I hold and the future I envision for our people.”
