Peller’s kidnap: Police breaks silence, says ‘we are investigating’

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that popular TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, widely recognized by his alias Peller, is safe, countering alarming reports of his alleged abduction during a livestream on Wednesday night.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, provided clarity on the situation.

He explained that preliminary investigations revealed the content creator was found at his residence and was not harmed, dispelling fears for his safety that had circulated online.

“We are investigating the allegation, but we can confirm that the person in question, Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, is at home safe and sound.

“His vehicle is also intact, all his phones and properties, nothing was missing,” Hundeyin said.

Hundeyin further noted that the police were still probing the case to determine whether it was truly a kidnapping, a staged scene, or a false alarm.

“That is what we are investigating. All his properties were intact, and there was no violence whatsoever,” the police spokesman added.

The 20-year-old was reportedly taken away by armed men on his way home while livestreaming on TikTok.

Viral footage of the incident showed him seemingly mistaking the men for security personnel before being driven off.

This comes a few days after his public altercation with his girlfriend, Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, popularly known as Jarvis.

Tribune Online reports that Peller was seen in a viral video pushing Jarvis after the pair attended singer Seyi Vibez’s concert at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.
