Africa World clocks ten on Lagos route, rewards customers with free tickets

Africa World Airlines (AWA) has celebrated ten (10) years of remarkable and successful operations on the Lagos – Accra route with the presentation of free tickets to its loyal customers. The airline held a reception at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
Present at the occasion were high-profile guests and industry personalities who have been with the airline from its inception as well as those who have played various roles in helping the airline achieve this significant milestone.
Welcoming guests to the event, Mr. Jonathan Appiah, Head of Commercial, said, “I welcome you to this auspicious occasion as we gather to commemorate the 10th anniversary of our Lagos route. It brings me immense joy and pride to stand before you today, reflecting on a decade that has been nothing short of remarkable for Africa World Airlines. As we celebrate this milestone, let us not only reflect on the past but also look forward to the promising future that lies ahead. Together, let us continue to soar to greater heights, embracing innovation, expansion, and excellence in all our endeavours.”
Speaking further on the airline’s plans for the future, Mr. Appiah said, “Looking ahead to the first half of the upcoming year, we are poised to transcend the boundaries of our achievements. The introduction of the E-190s to our fleet marks a pivotal moment in our expansion strategy. This enhancement will not only bolster our fleet but also pave the way for the expansion of our network.
“In line with our expansion, we’re thrilled to announce the inclusion of several exciting destinations in our network. Monrovia, Freetown, Banjul, Dakar, Sao Tome, Port Harcourt, Abidjan, and many more will soon become integral parts of our service offerings. These additions reflect our dedication to connecting more people and communities, fostering relationships, and enriching travel experiences,” he disclosed.

The Airline’s Country Manager, Mr. Kingsley Chima expressed excitement on the remarkable achievement and underscored the fact that AWA was the first airline to do a shuttle service on the route with five (5) flights daily. He took time out to thank all those who made this feat possible and expressed commitment to maintaining the standard which AWA has come to be renowned for.
Similarly, the Country Manager Nigeria used the occasion to express gratitude to some pioneer organizations and personalities who were there when the airline began operations in Nigeria. They include Mrs. Gloria Atumu of APG, the GSA of the Airline at inception, as well as Mr. Adeniyi Adigun, Director Sales of Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO Plc) who has been the Ground Handling Services provider of the airline among several others.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Appiah revealed that “In line with our expansion, we’re thrilled to announce the inclusion of several exciting destinations in our network.
