Dangote Refinery Increases Petrol Price as MRS to Sell at N839 Per Litre

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has recently announced an increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol, according to DailyTrust.
As a result, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc retail outlets are now selling petrol at N839 per litre across the country.
This price adjustment comes after the conclusion of a temporary price support intervention that was implemented during the holiday season. This intervention aimed to alleviate the financial burden on Nigerians, characterized by increased household spending during the festive period.
During this time, Dangote Refinery absorbed significant costs in an effort to enhance affordability and maintain market stability.
With the new pricing structure, the PMS gantry price has been adjusted from N699 to N799 per litre. The company has stated that this realignment is essential for ensuring long-term sustainability, affordability, and stability within the downstream petroleum sector.
Despite the earlier reduction, the Refinery noted that many filling stations failed to reflect the lower price at the pump, denying consumers the full benefits of the intervention.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, said the facility continues to supply the domestic market with about 50 million litres of PMS daily, adding that nationwide evacuation and distribution remain seamless.
He also assured that the Refinery’s operational flexibility allows it to process a wide range of crude and intermediate feedstocks, ensuring uninterrupted PMS supply even during planned maintenance activities.
As a domestic producer, Dangote Refinery reiterated its commitment to shielding Nigeria from import-related volatility and external supply disruptions, while remaining a stabilising force in the downstream petroleum sector.
