Osun 2026: Rejected Gov Adeleke Finally Set To Dump PDP, Next Party Revealed

After being rejected from joining the All Progressives Congress by the powerful Osun State political stakeholders, Governor Ademola Adeleke is reportedly contemplating a permanent departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the 2026 Osun governorship election approaches.

Internal divisions within the PDP have escalated to a point where the feasibility of presenting a candidate for the upcoming election is in serious doubt.

Recent comments from Kamorudeen Ajisafe, the PDP’s National Deputy Vice Chairman for the Southwest, highlight the severity of the party’s internal crisis.

He noted that the current state of disunity may prevent the party from conducting a valid primary election.

Ajisafe indicated that if the situation does not improve, Governor Adeleke might be compelled to seek an alternative platform to pursue a second term.

During a radio interview, Ajisafe emphasized the unique challenges facing the PDP in Osun compared to other states it controls.

With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) setting December 15 as the deadline for party primaries, there is a genuine concern that the PDP may miss this critical opportunity.

He also referenced the recent troubles in Ekiti, where internal conflict severely undermined the party’s strength, underscoring the urgent need for resolution within the Osun PDP.

He stated, “Let me tell you that if anything happens in Osun, it has to do with looking for a platform to contest. Where is the platform to contest now? It is absolutely known to the whole world that there is no way that the PDP would be able to nominate a candidate for the 2026 governorship election.”

Recent remarks by the governor have sparked increased speculation within Osun’s political circles regarding his future political alignment. Several insiders suggest that he may be considering the Accord Party or the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as potential options.

Reports indicate that Adeleke has made preliminary, discreet contacts with leadership members of the Accord Party, although some sources maintain that discussions are still in the early stages, as he evaluates the most reliable path to secure his position.

Despite the rising rumors, the governor has yet to publicly confirm any intention to switch parties. Nonetheless, close associates acknowledge that pressure is mounting, particularly amid ongoing challenges within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that show no signs of being resolved soon.
