Nigerian Navy’s Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Katagum Dies

Military sources confirmed on Thursday the death of Rear Admiral Musa Katagun, the Chief of Operations at Naval headquarters, who passed away in a hospital in Egypt.

He had traveled there for a follow-up medical evaluation after undergoing an initial surgery in September of the previous year.

Before his appointment as Chief of Operations by Vice Admiral Idi Abass, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Katagun served in various significant roles including as the Director of Naval Intelligence and as the Deputy Defence Adviser in Paris, France.

His extensive career included time at the Defence Headquarters.

The news of Rear Admiral Katagun’s passing has deeply affected the Armed Forces, with colleagues mourning his loss and recognizing him as a symbol of courage, discipline, and dedication to service.

Many senior officers have expressed their sorrow, acknowledging that his legacy will continue to resonate within the Navy.
