Religious Leader, 7 Others Abducted in Fresh Attack

On Sunday evening, an armed attack occurred in the Dogon Ruwa community, located in the Bashar district of the Wase Local Government Area in Plateau State, as reported by Daily Trust.
The incident resulted in the death of one resident and the abduction of an imam, his Muazzin (prayer caller), and six other individuals.
Dogon Ruwa has been facing ongoing challenges with banditry and kidnapping in recent times. According to residents, the victims were targeted on the outskirts of the community while they were engaged in commercial charcoal production.
Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase, confirmed the attack and noted that it has instilled fear among the local population.
“After the attack, residents trailed the attackers, but couldn’t catch them because it was evening. The attack has caused panic.
Sambo said security personnel had been stationed in the area, with additional forces deployed to strengthen security, urging residents to remain calm.
The state police spokesperson, SP Alabo Alfred, hadn’t responded to inquiries as of press time.
Meanwhile, the Dogon Ruwa community has witnessed previous attacks.
On July 29, 2025, bandits reportedly ambushed soldiers and vigilantes in the area, killing two soldiers and two vigilantes.
Similarly, on Monday last week, gunmen attacked Sabon Gari and Zak communities, where five residents and a soldier were killed.
