Dangote Withdraws Petition Against Former NMMPRA Boss from ICPC

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, has formally withdrawn his petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against Farouk Ahmed, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
The withdrawal was executed by Dangote’s lawyer, Ogwu Onoja, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The decision to retract the petition follows the involvement of another government agency that has assumed jurisdiction over the case.
In December, Dangote had urged the ICPC to investigate Ahmed for allegedly misusing his position to embezzle public funds and prioritize his personal interests, thereby harming the Nigerian public.
John Odey, a spokesman for the ICPC, confirmed the withdrawal in a statement, but reiterated that the agency would continue its investigation in accordance with its statutory responsibilities.
He emphasized that ongoing inquiries are essential for promoting transparency, accountability, and combating corruption for the benefit of Nigeria.
