Fresh Tension as Tinubu's Chosen Political Leader in Rivers State Revealed

Magnus Abe, a former senator from Rivers State, has declared that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is the key political figure for President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State.

Abe referred to Wike as the “001 of President Bola Tinubu’s political family” within the region.

He emphasized that individuals who claim loyalty to President Tinubu should not oppose Wike politically, as this stance would be contradictory given Wike’s significant contribution to Tinubu’s political success in Rivers State.

His comments have garnered attention, especially considering the ongoing political tensions between Wike and the current Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Abe acknowledged Wike’s instrumental role in securing Rivers State for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress during the 2023 general elections, describing the electoral outcome as historic and unprecedented in the state’s political landscape.

He stressed that loyalty must be acknowledged, noting that political victories do not happen by chance. Abe said, “No one can claim to love Mr President and be ungrateful to our ‘Mr Project,’ whose support at a critical point was pivotal to our success.”

Abe recently commended President Tinubu for his emphasis on loyalty, hard work, and competence in leadership.

He reiterated his personal dedication to the President and expressed gratitude towards Wike, referring to him affectionately as “our Nyerishi,” which is a term of respect in the local vernacular.

Abe encouraged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of the Tinubu administration, acknowledging that although the government’s reform policies may be challenging, there are early indications that the country is heading in a positive direction.

Throughout his political career, Abe has been a prominent figure in Rivers State. Since the 2023 elections, he has aligned more closely with Wike’s political faction, especially in light of the growing tensions between the FCT minister and Governor Fubara.
