Carabao Cup: Man City Battle Newcastle As Chelsea Await Arsenal Or Palace For Semi-Final Slot

The English Football League has announced the draw for the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, confirming that Manchester City will face the defending champions, Newcastle United.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is set to await the result of the quarter-final matchup between Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

This announcement was made late Wednesday night on the EFL website, following Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Brentford and Newcastle United’s last-minute win over Fulham, both securing their places in the last four of the tournament.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chelsea took on Cardiff City, the team led by club legend Frank Lampard, securing a late 3-1 victory away from home, thanks to a brace from Garnacho and another goal from Neto. The details of the semi-final draw were officially revealed in a post titled ā€œCarabao Cup Semi-Final draw revealedā€ on the EFL website.

According to the release, holders Newcastle United will face Manchester City, while Chelsea will play the winners of the quarter-final tie between Arsenal and Crystal Palace, scheduled for Tuesday, December 23.

Manchester City booked their place in the semi-finals with a 2-0 victory over Brentford on Wednesday, setting up a meeting with Newcastle, who progressed after defeating Fulham through a stoppage-time header by Lewis Miley.

ā€œChelsea will learn their semi-final opponents following the Arsenal versus Crystal Palace encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

ā€œThe EFL said the first legs of the semi-final ties will be played in the week commencing January 12, 2026, while the second legs are scheduled for the week commencing February 2, 2026,ā€ it read.
