NCC Takes Action To Address Service Disruptions In Abuja

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has recognized the ongoing challenges related to the Quality of Service (QoS) affecting telecommunications users in Abuja.
These disruptions have been attributed to a shortage of diesel supply impacting IHS Nigeria Limited, the colocation service provider that powers numerous Airtel and MTN base stations in the affected areas.
The diesel shortage is a result of recent actions by the National Oil and Gas Suppliers Association (NOGASA), which have led to supply interruptions and subsequent outages at several telecom sites.
The NCC is actively collaborating with major stakeholders and licensees to address these challenges, emphasizing the critical role of a reliable power supply in maintaining optimal telecommunications services throughout the nation. The Commission is engaging relevant parties to eliminate bottlenecks in the fuel supply chain and to develop sustainable, long-term solutions.
Furthermore, the NCC has urged NOGASA and other stakeholders to work together to swiftly resolve these disruptions due to the significance of stable communication services for national life and economic activities. Despite the current issues, the NCC remains committed to fostering a conducive environment for the growth and sustainability of the telecom sector.
Proactive measures are being taken to facilitate dialogue between affected service providers and diesel suppliers with the aim of restoring normal operations as quickly as possible. The Commission assures Abuja residents that it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates until full service quality is reinstated.
The NCC also expressed gratitude to subscribers for their patience and understanding during this period, reaffirming its dedication to delivering high-quality telecommunications services across the country.
