BREAKING: Gov. Adeleke Set To Join Accord Party

ThePapers.ng has learned that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is preparing to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the Accord Party as the 2026 Osun governorship election approaches.
Adeleke faced rejection when attempting to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite having met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos. His efforts to join the ruling party were consistently blocked by influential political stakeholders within the Osun APC.
According to a reliable source from the governor’s camp, Adeleke has decided to join the Accord Party to contest in the 2026 governorship election.
This decision comes after ongoing internal divisions within the PDP have escalated to a point where presenting a viable candidate for the upcoming election appears uncertain.
Earlier reports indicated that the governor was considering two political parties, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Accord Party.
However, after several consultations and support, he has shifted his focus to the Accord Party, given its historical significance in the Southwest.
